The Blues Brothers

Directed by
John Landis
Starring
John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Carrie Fisher, Ray Charles

The Blues Brothers tells the hilarious story of Jake and Elwood Blues, two ex-orphans from Chicago who go back there to find the building they grew up in is about to be repossessed unless they come up with some money. They have the idea to reform the band they used to be in for a one off gig to raise funds. Sounds simple but thats not quite the way it turns out. Add the biggest car chase and pile up in movie history and some cool music and you have a real movie classic.

The Blues Brothers is the second film in this collection to be directed by John Landis. Along with Trading Places he also directed An American Werewolf in London, National Lampoons Animal House, Coming To America, The Three Amigos and was was responsible for the music video of the 80s - Michael Jackson's Thriller. A man with a real flair for comedy on the big screen.

Information

The Blues Brothers did fairly well at the US box office taking a gross of $54.2m but became a cult classic many years after its initial release. The untimely death of John Belushi in 1982 aged 33 was a tragic loss, as the career of Dan Aykroyd spiralled into superstardom afterwards.
