A valid Drivers license
from any country is valid for 3 months in Ontario.
If driving rental car bring a copy of the rental agreement.
Most Canadian
towns are laid out using the block system: straight parallel roads forming
a grid of blocks.
When streets in towns are given numbers such as 34th Street or 24th Avenue,
which isn't always the case, navigation is extremely simple, with the
additional advantage that it also becomes very easy to find house or building
numbers, because at the start of each block the numbers start at a multiple
of 100 based on the number of the intersecting street. For example, the
houses with numbers between 3400 and 3499 lie between the 34th Street
and 35th Street intersections. There may of course only be a few buildings
on any one block.
Roads are cleared of snow during the winter months.Snow removal is done
on a priority basis with the major routes cleared first.
On the major highways and in most major centers, food and fuel is available
24 hours a day.
Calendar parking is in effect from October until the end of April.....snow
conditions pending.

The meaning of most
of the road signs used in Canada will be obvious to British drivers.
Right turns on red lights are allowed in Ontario unless posted
otherwise. You must come to a full stop yield to pedestrian traffic, and
may proceed with caution if the way is clear.
It is an offence in Ontario to enter an intersection for a left turn if
you can not complete this turn during the green portion of the signal.
School Buses: Traffic in both directions (except on divided roads
or highways) must stop for a yellow school bus when it's red lights are
flashing and it's arm is extended.

Trucks: Stay
Visible. When you come to a stop behind a truck , keep to the left of
your lane so that the driver can see you in the trucks mirror. If you
can not see the trucks mirror they probably can not see you.
Seat Belts: All
occupants of a vehicle must wear or use the appropriate restraints. Failure
to do so will result in fines of $90 and two demerit points. The driver
is fined for the persons under the age of 16.
