The Wedding

This page includes all the juicy wedding day stuff regarding transportation, lodging, the ceremony, the participants, the reception, Washington, D.C., and other things. This page will be updated frequently, so please visit often.

The Ceremony

The ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m. on October 25, 2003, at St. Matthew's Cathedral, located a few blocks south of Dupont Circle at 1725 Rhode Island Avenue, NW, in Washington, DC. Take a photo tour.

The Cathedral plays a major role in the Catholic life of the nation's capital. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Washington. Pope John II celebrated Mass here on October 6, 1979. President John F. Kennedy's funeral Mass was said on November 25, 1963. Requiems have been held here for several heads of state. The "Red Mass," celebrated annually in the fall, requests guidance from the Holy Spirit for the conduct of the legal profession. It is attended by Supreme Court justices and members of Congress, the Cabinet, diplomatic corps, and other government departments, sometimes including the President of the United States.

The Participants

Our interfaith ceremony will be co-officiated by Rabbi Lewis Solomon (left), who is also a business law professor at George Washington University's Law School, and Monsignor W. Ronald Jameson (right) of St. Matthews Cathedral.

The Reception

The reception will be at the Crystal Gateway Marriott (not to be confused with the Crystal City Marriott) in Crystal City, Virginia, right over the 14th Street Bridge from downtown Washington, DC. We hope everyone is gearing up for a great time!

NEW INFORMATION: The Cocktail Hour will begin at 5:30PM, which will be immediately followed by the Reception.

The Hotel

Lucky for you out-of-towners, the reception is being held in one of the nicest hotels in the D.C. metro area, the Crystal Gateway Marriott. Just mention either Jason or Donna's name when making your reservations in order to get the wedding event rate, which is subject to availability. Please call (703) 920-3230 or 1-800-228-9290 by September 25, 2003, to reserve your room.

The hotel's amenities include an indoor and outdoor pool and a health club. There are several restaurants, malls and attractions within walking distance.

NEW INFORMATION: Although check-in time is normally 3PM, which is the same time as the ceremony, we have arranged an early check-in time of 12PM with the hotel for those arriving on Saturday.

Transportation
Getting to DC

The closest airport to the hotel and church is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), which is actually located in Arlington, Virginia and is the only metro accessible airport.

The Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Baltimore-Washington Airport (BWI) are approximately 45 minutes from downtown Washington, D.C.

The local Marriotts runs a free shuttle every fifteen minutes from National Airport to the hotel. Otherwise, you can rent a car or a take The Airport Shuttle from any area airport. You can make your flight reservations at Expedia or Travelocity. If you're flying from New York's LaGuardia Airport, you may consider taking either the Delta Shuttle or the US Airways Shuttle.

If you'd rather drive, you can get directions from Mapquest or read Jason's recommended directions if you are coming from New York. The hotel's address is 1700 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Arlington, VA.

Getting Around DC

The Crystal Gateway Marriott is located directly above the Crystal City metro station, which is one stop away from National Airport and only a few stops away from downtown Washington, D.C.

Here is a metro map.

The Wedding

Fear not, car-less out-of-towners. We will be providing shuttle service between the hotel and the church before and after the wedding ceremony.

NEW INFORMATION: Due to downtown protests near the Washington Monument and the National Mall, we ask that everyone depart early for the church to account for anticipated traffic. If you are driving, we suggest you avoid the 14th Street Bridge. If you are staying at the Marriott Crystal Gateway, you will be assigned upon your arrival to either the 1:30PM or 2PM shuttle.

Parking
The hotel is providing a discounted rate of $12/day for those attending the wedding. While the church does not provide parking, there is limited street parking and a small number of paid parking lots within walking distance.
