Some Hype Music Resources

- everything you need to know about publishing, copyright,  and
[music-law]    management.  Administered by a Chicago-based entertainment  lawyer
who is very knowledgeable and helpful. He answered my question via
email within a couple of days.

- the best place to buy music on-line.  You will be regularly
surprised by their selection.  They can be slow on some
backorders (I waited a month for one then cancelled it when i
found out I could get it direct from the German label in about two
weeks.)  If nothing else, it's a great resource for checking
discographies and for sampling new music before buying it.

- the All-Music Guide is a wonderful resource for checking discographies
of musical artists.  Even has a user-support  interface for helping
maintain the database with your own expert knowledge of the artist in
question.  Very extensive with impressive discographies of
                independent/underground artists.

unfURLed - take the directory power of Yahoo! and back it with the sponsorship
and musical muscle of MTV and you get unfURLed.  A great
reference for finding official and unofficial pages for rock musica
artists on the 'net.  Also has great feature areas like charts,
editorials, release dates, etc. Only drawbacks are that it is limited to
rock and roll only (no blues, jazz, country, ethnic music) and it tends
to be limited to corporate and large independent bands.  Of course,
this is only a reflection of the music fans, and, partly Yahoo!'s more
inclusive policies over the past year or so.

- when you can't find it at unfURLed, this is your next option.
A user supported database of any band that someone has had
the energy to create a page for and take the time to make a
submission.  Also has very nice label, music store, and radio
database cross-referenced, although they are barely supported.

-  The On-Line Guitar Archive (OLGA) is a collection of tablature and
lyrics of popular music.  If you're interested in learning how to play
your favorite song, this is the easiest place to start.

- the Worldwide Internet Live Music Archive (WILMA) is a collection of
current live performance dates.  It may not be as big as Pollstar, but
it's generally faster and not as graphics heavy.

- The music trivia section at Rockmall can be entertaining and
                informative.

- The DiscPlay program is a powerful CD managment program that
assists you in cataloging your CD collection utilizing the CDDB.  It has
powerful search and cross-referencing features and a nifty HTML
export  that allows you to show off your CD collection

On-line Entertainment
- If you like to laugh, twist your mind, have a twisted mind,  and play
with words, you'll love playing acrophobia.

- The Internet Gaming Zone may be run by the evil Microsoft empire,
but it is still the -place- for interactive gaming, whether it be playing
a game of spades or chess, or hookin' up for a game of Monopoly.

- Deeper Trouble is what is known as a Multiple User Dungeon(MUD).
You can find Lin and Josh running around here from time to time.
