Caricature Zone: A really swell place to hang out at and pick up some tips on doing caricatures. And the amazing thing is, you can actually "sketch with a (just) few clicks of your (PC) mouse" by selecting the facial features that best match your intended subjects. The first place to start for ideas would be 'Faces of Stars' which has caricatures of all the celebrities who're hot at the moment. It'll hardly surprise you to know that Britney Spears is the current No. 1 favorite for caricaturists, though Elvis Presley, George W. Bush, Al Gore and Albert Einstein are also on the Top 5 list. There're more than 700 caricatures, all on one page, at 'Surf Express'. And if you need more, you can scroll through the links at the site.

The E Zone: Just the place for model airplane buffs who want to know everything about their hobby. Besides construction schemes and tips, all kinds of technical info, and articles on electric flight-related topics, you get columns by serious model plane builders who discuss their projects and plans in detail. There're also lots of photos of home-built planes and reviews of commercially available models. This is about as exhaustive as any site of this nature can get on the subject, with downloads that deal with everything from engine rebuilding instructions to flight plans. The site is well-designed, laying out all the important links and some pictures with a keen sense of space on the home page.

Librarian’s Index to the Internet: If your work involves a lot of research or you're just the sort of person who enjoys delving into all kinds of subjects, this should be your starting place. It's not quite a search portal though it does look like one and has a multi-choice search box. But the listings of alphabetically arranged subjects are more comprehensive than those available at the major search engines, and you can actually narrow down whatever you're looking for in less time here than you could at say Yahoo! or AltaVista. For instance, under 'Religion & Philosophy', you have a choice of 'Christianity', 'Islam', 'Judaism', 'Mythology' and 'Philosophy' on the home page. If you want to extend your search, you just click on 'more...' You might not get good results on searches for trivial topics but on the more serious ones you'll often hit paydirt at this simple but effective online index.

Sports Illustrated For Kids: Although it's very American in concept and coverage (a bit too much baseball), this colorful site exposes young sports enthusiasts to the world of the pros in a fun way. News is not a big thing here, though you do get the latest in 'Today's Headlines'. But the games and quizzes -- 'Mental Marathon', 'Buzz Beamer Challenge', 'Helmet Head Trivia' etc -- will keep most young surfers entertained for hours besides helping them to expand their sports knowledge. The downloadable 'Digital Sports Cards' are a real neat idea, and if you need tips on everything from athletics to soccer, just look under 'Sports Advice'. It'd be great if some local sports organization could come up with a site like this for young Malaysian sports fans.

whatis?com: The language of Information Technology, which seems to be evolving faster than the speed of sound, usually has technophobes and bookish traditionalists miffed or stumped. And since new words and phrases are coined daily, only an online dictionary can be current enough to keep track of things. That's where whatis?com, which offers "definitions for thousands of the most current IT-related words", will prove invaluable. You can do a box search for terms or browse words alphabetically like you would a standard print dictionary. You can also seek out words and their meanings under categories like 'Software', 'PCs', 'Internet', 'Networking' and 'Telecom' on the main page. Other features on the home page include 'Top 20 Words of the Week' and a "fast reference" section.

Women’s Health Interactive: An excellent site designed to help women "gain mastery of (their) personal health, act as a catalyst for behavioral change, and promote a healthier lifestyle through knowledge, growth and action". There's a lot of useful information on a wide range of topics -- everything from 'Mental Health' and 'Infertility' to 'Menstrual Disorders' and 'Perimenopause'. Besides sections like 'Personal Assessments' and 'Health Centers' which help you understand such things as the difference between migraine and tension-induced headache, birth control, gynaecologic problems such as fibroids, cysts and endometriosis and the cause of depressions, there's a 'News Wire' offering updates on the latest issues on women's health. You can sign up as a mamber and get interactive to be fully empowered through knowledge. The home page has a somewhat cluttered feel but the layout is neat enough to enable smooth navigation.
