(Latin for: "The persons in a drama")

In order to write good stories, especially with characters a writer may not have created, it's crucial that you fully familiarize yourself with the characters whom you intend to write about. Before crafting my first ever story, "The Frankenstein Syndrome", I spent a great deal of time studying Serena and the girls, learning all I could about them: their likes, dislikes, passions, fears, temperament, quirks in their personalities, skeletons (if any) in their closets, everything I could. I wanted to make sure I understood the girls almost as well as Naoko herself before I sat down to start writing. In the almost two years I've spent writing Sailor Moon fan fiction, I've come to know the girls quite well, well enough to form my own opinions and viewpoints about them, and that in turn has helped me to understand them more and more. The purpose of this feature is to give you my own personal interpretations about the girls, to explain what fascinates me about them. It's been through those interpretations that I've based my stories on, not what I've seen on the show, or at least not entirely. I think you, the reader will find what I've come up with to be most fascinating and, hopefully will stir discussion. Please click on the appropriate picture below to view each of the girls and my opinions about them. Enjoy.

SERENA TSUKINO

RAYE HINO

LITA MONROE*

MINA SPENCER*
* = When I began writing my first story, I didn't know what the surnames of Lita and Mina were, nor were they ever mentioned on the TV show, so I made them up. For Lita, I wanted a surname that conveyed strength since she was a strong girl, and my inspiration came from watching an old film clip of one of my all-time favorite NBA players, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe. As for Mina, according to her history, she fought evil in Britain as Sailor V before coming to Tokyo to join the girls. With that in mind, I named Mina after Britain's most famous celebrity, the late Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales. Even though I would later learn through reading the manga that Lita's and Mina's real surnames were Kino and Aino respectively, I never bothered to change what I came up with in all the stories that I've since done. Why? Because I like them, and I think they fit the girls perfectly. What do you think?
