From day one when she made her debut on the TV show, Lita immediately became my favorite member of the Scouts, and I'm not at all ashamed to say I fell in love with her. She's the boldest, the bravest and the most outgoing of the girls, coincidentally, Lita also has the most emotional baggage of the group, but she never lets it show. As everyone knows, Lita's parents were killed in a plane crash when she was a child, and the trauma left her permanently phobic of planes and flying. Then there's her love life, or rather, the lack of same. Her old boyfriend cruelly dumped Lita, leaving her heartbroken in the rain, yet despite how badly he hurt her, Lita, continues to be infactuated with him, saying that EVERY handsome guy she meets reminds her of him.
I've pictured Lita as a den mother to Serena and company, she's fiercely protective of the girls whom she considers to be her surrogate family and takes any threat against them with deadly seriousness. In a scene from a story I've done, Lita remarked candidly to the girls that they've been "the anchor that's kept me sane." While this has never been played up because of the semi-lightherted nature of the TV series, Lita's something of a tragic figure in my eyes: a lonely orphan with no family, no friends and no social life outside of the girls who might never find true love because of her still present feelings for her old boyfriend that she can't seem to purge. That Lita is always so good spirited is a testament to the rock solid strength of her character.
Since Lita, as Sailor Jupiter is the strongest of the Inner Scouts, I've portrayed her in fight scenes as a volcanic, foul mouthed berserker who loves to either pound her enemies into pulp, or fry them to a crisp with a well placed bolt of lightning. I'm probably wrong, but I view Lita as the one Scout who could kill without pity or remorse because she had no one to tell her such a thing was wrong when she was growing up. To offset the mayhem she revels in, Lita has her softer, more feminine side as she enjoys gardening, loves to cook and dreams of opening her own restaurant. Despite her image as a brawl happy amazon, Lita is a gentle and caring young woman who only wants to love and be loved. Just don't piss her off if you know what's good for you!
