Code of Conduct

Equal Opportunities.
• Membership of Samba Youth Football Club will be open to all young people irrespective of their race, ethnic origin, gender, culture, religion or social status. The club wishes to see all parts of the local community represented within its membership.

• Discriminatory treatment, including racist or sexist language or behaviour, will not be tolerated at the club. Any incidents of racist or sexist language or behaviour will be challenged, acted upon swiftly and in serious cases can lead to suspension or even expulsion from the club.

Players Code of Conduct.
• Play because you enjoy football, not to please your parents or coach.

• You must treat all players, as you yourself would like to be treated. Do not bully or harass your team mates or opposition players.

• You must work equally hard for yourself and your team.

• You must appreciate the importance of striving to win, rather than winning itself.

• You must play to the rules of the game. Never argue with the Referee’s decision. His or her decision is final and must be respected whether you agree with it or not.

• You must be a good sport. Applaud all good play, whether by your team or by your opponents.

• You must develop a good working relationship with your coach. Attending all training sessions where appropriate.

• You must accept responsibility for your own behaviour during training and on match days.

• You will be listened to. You are the most important part of the club and your views and thoughts are important. Your manager and club officials will listen to your views when they are delivered at the appropriate time and in an appropriate manner.

Spectators Code of Conduct.
• You must appreciate that the child’s involvement in playing football is primarily for his/her own enjoyment.

• You must respect the rights, dignity and worth of each player. Praise positive aspects of play and avoid becoming frustrated or ridiculing young players by focusing on their failings.

• You must display a sense of good sportsmanship on match days and avoid criticism of match officials.

• To assist the team manager where appropriate.

• To support the Club in its stand against intimidation, bullying, racist and sexist abuse and where necessary discuss this with your child.

Child Protection.
Samba Youth FC recognises its responsibility for the safety and welfare of all children and young people who come to the club by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect and bullying.

The Club will ensure that: -

• It will conform to guidelines on child protection advocated by the Football Association and West Surrey Youth League.

• All team managers will be subject to police checks and attend appropriate training in child protection issues.

• It appoints a designated child protection officer (Mr Divyan Desai) who will monitor and co-ordinate child protection issues for the Club.

Disciplinary Procedures.
On the rare occasion a player or spectator transgresses the Club’s codes of conduct it may be necessary to take disciplinary action. The club committee will deal any such matters. The committee will consider a report or investigation into the incident prior to taking action, which could lead, in extreme cases to players or spectators being suspended or banned from the club.

Both the West Surrey Youth League and the Surrey Football Association have disciplinary codes that the Club are subject to.

The Clubs Promise.

• To welcome and encourage parents’ interest and involvement in the Club’s life and take account of their views about your child’s needs.

• To aim to provide a safe and secure environment for your child to train and play matches.

• To aim to ensure that your child has regular opportunity for participation at matches.

• To ensure that training activities are appropriate for the age and ability of players.

• To deal with any problems concerning your child calmly and fairly having listened to your child’s point of view.

• To inform you in person or by telephone of any problems or difficulties of a more serious nature.

• To inform you about Club activities via newsletters including lists of forthcoming fixtures.

• To encourage a sense of fun, enjoyment and participation for your child when attending the Club.

• To inform you by telephone in reasonable time of any cancellations of matches or practice due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

• To encourage a sense of fair play throughout our activities.
