About me and my website

My name is Scott Latham, and I work as an actuary in the South East of England. I am an enthusiastic player of badminton, cricket, golf and numerous card games (Magic: The Gathering the current favourite) and a keen amatuer photographer.

My website is largely a collection of the computer games that I have written, the best jokes that I have been emailed. and the photographs I have taken!

The games

I have been writing computer games since I got my Acorn Electron when I was 6 years old. I made some of the games on this site for friends to play, some for me to play, some because I saw other games and thought 'hey! I could do that!' and all because taking a fun, simple idea and turning it into a real game is just a great feeling. I put them on the web because I believe many people (like me) still enjoy simple games like the ones I bought for £1.99 from my local shops when I was 10 years old. I hope you are one of those people!

In case it is of interest, the items of software available to download on this site which were written by me for the PC were all programmed in Microsoft QBASIC and compiled using something like the FirstBas shareware QBASIC compiler.
Those written by me for the Acorn Archimedes were programmed in !Edit and compiled by the !Applise compiler.

The jokes

My jokes page, Funmails was started jointly by me and my friend Simon Moore to preserve the best jokes we'd been emailed at university. Since joining the world of work it has become clear that workers enjoy emailing jokes even more than students. Accordingly I have continued to upload more humourous emails as they find their way to me - providing some amusement to my work colleagues and hopefully to you.
