Crockett Family Continued...Fifth Generation 5.Richard Crockett. (Richard 4, Ephraim 3, Thomas 2, Thomas 1). Born ABT 1710/1711 in Falmouth, York County, Maine. Richard died abt 6 Mar 1781; he was 71. [38] NOTE: He was a chairmaker by trade. He lived in Cape Elizabeth, Gorham and Falmouth, Maine, before 1781, when he shows in Deer Isle. On 20 Aug 1732 Richard & Mary were admitted to the 1st Church of Falmouth. Then on 18 Nov 1733 they joined the Congregational Church in Scarborough. [38] On 20 Aug 1731 when Richard was 21, he married Mary Robinson [38], daughter of Abraham Robinson (? -? ), in Falmouth, York County, Maine. Born ? . Mary died ? . They had the following children: i. Mary. Born on 28 Mar 1732 in Falmouth, York County, Maine. [39] Mary died ? . In Nov 1749 when Mary was 17, she married James Wagg [40], in Black Point, Maine. [40] Born ? . James died ? . James Wagg came from Brighton, England. He settled first at Cape Elizabeth, then at Penepscott, later called Danville, still later Auburn, where he was the first settler in town. He took up land in the wilderness, built a log house. He was a Revolutionary Soldier, enlisted twice. Served four years. Private in Captain Hart Williams' Co. Col. Edmund Phinney's Regiment 1776. Was with Washington at Valley Forge. Record of church at Black Point, later Saroboro, ME gives marriage intention to Mary Crockett as Nov. 11, 1749. 6 ii. Richard (~1734-1821) iii. Joshua [41]. Born abt 1736. Joshua died in Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine, on 6 Jan 1809; he was 73. NOTE: Veteran of the Revolution. Served as Lt. in Capt. Sam Whitmore's Co. 3rd Cumberland Co., Mass., Regt. under Col. Reuben Fogg. Charles thinks that he was the son of Richard Crockett, However, THIS HISTORY OF NORWAY shows that he was the son of Joshua & Elizabeth Crockett of Gorham. The HISTORY OF GORHAM, p 455, and the HISTORY OF NORWAY, p 382, show that Joshua Crockett died 18 Feb 1800, Gorham, very aged, and that his wife, Elizabeth died September 1798, Gorham, very aged, but no ages given. These children are possibly not all his by the birth records. (Bruce) On 8 Jul 1757 when Joshua was 21, he married Hannah Babb, daughter of James Babb (? -? ), in Falmouth, Cumberland County, Maine. On 15 Nov 1763 when Daniel was 21, he married Mary Noyes [47], daughter of Nehemiah Noyes (abt 1709-1 Sep 1764) & Ann Stickney (BEF 17 FEB 1711/12-1 Sep 1764), in Windham, Cumberland County, Maine. Robinson died abt 1830; he was 85. Occupation: He was a Master Mariner, and also a chairmaker. NOTE: He went to Deer Isle before 1785, then to Little Deer Isle, finally to Brooksville, where he died. Robinson, his son-in-law David Sawyer, and sons Ephraim and Richard, owned the schooner "AMERICA" in 1806. Son Joseph was the ships master. Widow applied for BLW 16 Mar 1855. ] On 14 Apr 1791 when Samuel was 31, he married Abigail (Nabbe) Skillings, in Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland County, Maine. [60] Born abt 1775. Seventh Generation 7. Ephraim Crockett (Richard 6, Richard 5, Richard 4, Ephraim 3, Thomas 2, Thomas 1). [1], [64] Born on 12 Jul 1755 in Cape Elizabeth, York County, Maine. [23] Ephraim died in Danville, Cumberland County, Maine, on 9 Apr 1835; he was 79. [23] NOTE: Their first two children were born at Cape Elizabeth and the others at Pejepscot Claim. There are many descendants, but Leon had no good list at present. Ephraim's ancestors are unknown to the author. See the "Old Danville Records" at Auburn City Hall; also his records covering the Durham Crocketts, and others. [1] NOTE: He was a Revolutionary War Veteran, Capt. Dunn's Co., enlisted 17 May 1775, discharged 23 Nov. 1776. Family tradition is that Ephraim spent some time in the Dartmoor (England) Prison, during the War. Possibly buried in the Wagg Cemetery (on the river bank), River Road, Auburn. On 12 Mar 1777 when Ephraim was 21, he married Rebecca Stanford [65], daughter of Joseph Stanford (? -? ) & Priscilla Strout (? -? ), in Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland County, Maine. Rebecca died in Durham, Androscoggin County, Maine, on 6 Dec 1839; she was 79. The Maine Farmer newspaper of 28 Dec. 1839 shows that the widow Crockett burned to death (in bed), Durham.
