Memorial Service Early last year we agreed that it would be a good idea to have a memorial service to commemorate all of the children affected by organ retention. The religious leaders in Liverpool are keen for this to happen, and offered the use of the Anglican Cathedral. It will be a non-denominational service for all faiths and creeds, and will commemorate all the children, whether their relatives have inquired or not. We have kept putting off organising this as we felt that it was important for all families who might be involved to have the chance to come along. As we will need to book the service well in advance, the group has provisionally agreed that it should be on a Sunday afternoon in late October, early November. Joan Wheeler has sent a letter of thanks to Bishop Jones for his support to the parents. She quotes a conversation she had with him at the Crown Plaza when he said that the parents could be fully vindicated of the charges of being over emotional and irrational. Thanks Joan for getting in touch with him. If you would like to speak to Joan, contact the office. Contact will be made with the Dean of the cathedral, and a small group will get together to plan the service. Volunteers who have come forward so far are Ed Bradley, Joan Wheeler, Alice Proctor, Sheila Rigby, Cindy Bewes, Carmel Gresham, and Alan Jarvis. If you would like to be involved, then please let us know by getting in touch with the office (details at the top of this page).
