The Inquiry Report

We understand that the Inquiry Team will have finished the report by the middle to end of this month (October), and will then pass it on to Alan Milburn MP, the Secretary of State for Health.

We do not know how long it will then take before it is published for everyone to read. We have written to Alan Milburn to say how we feel it should be released, with a small group of parents who are willing to deal with the press given at least a couple of hours to see it before it is widely available.

We hope that all parents will be able to see it before the press, or at the very least at the same time, but we have not had a reply yet. We have proposed using some of the co-ordinators as central points where people will be able to collect their copies. Ian Cohen, and some MPs are supporting us by writing similar letters.

Press interest in the publication is likely to be massive. All the way through the last 12 months there has been intense press interest especially locally around the North West of England and North Wales, but also nationally and internationally. It is important that we handle the press well when the report is released.

There was a rumour circulating that the report was going to be delivered to Lord Hunt, the Health Minister, last Friday (13th October). This was only a rumour, and as I write on 18th October the report still hasn't left the Inquiry Team.
