Legacy

Pity II recently received a letter from the support group Legacy, formerly known as Legacy Faborio, advising that they have been in discussions with UK Transplant about the possibility of setting up a National register for individuals willing to donate organs/tissue for education and research at post mortem.

Legacy had been hoping to introduce its own donor card. Following their discussions with UK Transplant they now feel that it would be more efficient for this information to be included on the existing donor cards and register.

However, as UK Transplant is a Special Health Authority they would need a change in their remit. Legacy are hoping to lobby parliament on this issue. If you would like further information please contact: Legacy, 2 Maple Way, Ascott-under-Wychwood, Witney, Oxon. OX7 6AU. Tel: 01993 832977

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
