Garden of Life A project to consider the design and Construction of a Garden of Life at the Royal LiverpoolChildren's NHS Trust will start in the new year. The Garden of Life will adjoin the Alder Centre which provides a range of professional and volunteer support services for 'anyone affected by the death of a child'. Various options will be considered within the remit of providing an attractive and tranquil, but low-maintenance place for reflection. Fund-raising will be required to pay for the initial construction, after which it is intended to meet the maintenance costs from the Centre's endowment funds. In order to draw on a wide range of ideas and meet the needs of the Garden's potential users, the project team will include a variety of Trust, community and parent representatives. The Garden is not intended to be a memorial to any particular group or cause, however, several of the Alder Centre's volunteers, and many of our users, have been involved in organ retention and should anyone from PITY II be interested in joining the project team representatives will be warmly welcomed. Anyone who has visited a similar garden and has any suggestions is also invited to send them to me at the Alder Centre and they will be considered within the design process. Thank you and all best wishes, Alan Phillips;
Alder Centre Manager/Senior Counsellor
