GMC Decision As parents of children involved in the organ retenetion scandal that
has hit the UK, and the rest of the world, it seems the most upsetting
piece of news, as I am sure you will all agree, is the recently published
... General Medical Council (GMC) Decision. As parents who are involved, we are all just as shocked and devastated as everyone else at the recent disclosure by the GMC of their decision to clear virtually all of the doctors that had been named in the Redfern Inquiry Report. A copy of the letter announcing their decision was sent out to all
of our members as soon as we received it. Since then we have learnt
the names of the eleven doctors who had been considered by the GMC's
Preliminary Proceedings Committee and a copy of the list was sent
out to all of our members last week along with a letter briefly explaining
the situation. Everyone should have received this, but if for some
reason you have not received it, please ring the office and we will
send you another copy. One of our parents has applied for a Judicial Review of the GMC's decision and of their decision making process. It will be a few weeks before they will know the outcome of their application. The parent involved will keep us informed of progress and of course we will continue to try getting answers and information for you. HELP US HELP YOU For those of you who have written letters of complaint to the GMC
about individual doctors Please send them to the office as they may be useful
in the future.
