Myrtle
Street - the saga continues
Many of you will be aware of the discussions we have been having about trying to get the building on Myrtle Street/Mulberry Street demolished, where van Velzen worked, and where so many of our children's organs were stored. We are hoping that the City Council who owns the building will agree to its demolition. The University, who are currently using the building, has told us that they would be willing to move out so that this could happen. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the City Council to sort this out with the University. PITY II will be planning some action if this drags on much longer. The first call for demolition was made - and supported by Councillors who were present - at a meeting in St George's Hall in January 2000. Keep logging in for suggestions for action and publicity to get this moving. In the meantime if you live in Liverpool, please contact your local councillor and ask them to do what they can to push for the demolition. If you live outside of Liverpool see your local councillors and ask them to get your council to write to Liverpool City Council in support of our plea. There are so many bad things associated with the building that the sooner we can get it demolished, and a fitting tribute to our children put in its place, the sooner parents will feel some comfort.
