Message from PITY II Chairman, John O'Hare I would like to thank all of you who took part in the ballot for the new committee and for electing me as your new chair. I would just like to reiterate that we are here to represent all of the children and all of the families who have been involved in the organ retention scandal. Our commitment to the children and families is just as great now as it has always been and that is one hundred per cent. 'Never
Again' is what we have been promised Since the Annual General Meeting the committee has been, as always, very active on behalf of all our members. The role of PITY II in offering support, advice and information is becoming more and more important as we are finding that an increased number of families are coming forward for the first time and learning of their involvement with organ retention. Our list of members is growing. We are also receiving a large volume of calls and e-mails from different parts of the country (and the world) as our reputation spreads. We desperately need volunteers to help in the office, as this is the central point of reference for our callers. It need only be for an hour or two a week or for a few days. It is up to you. Any time that you could give would be appreciated and of great value. There are many things that you can help with from photocopying, addressing, franking & filling envelopes to answering the phones. Don't worry; you do not have to do anything that you are not comfortable with. We had an induction day a few weeks ago when volunteers came along to be shown the ropes and we plan to have more days like this in the near future if we get the volunteers. If you can help please let us know. Ring or e-mail the office as PITY II NEEDS YOU. Kind regards, John. |
