Alien Encounter
(A Poem About Survival)
A shadow passes over me, to big to be a cloud
I look at the ground in astonishment and nearly scream aloud
"My God! What horible entity, could this huge thing be?"
My eyes look slowly upward, so scared what I will see
Hovering above me, about 30 feet or more
Is a monstrous silver object, "Oh heck what is in store?"
And then a beam of light, comes slowly down on me
Drawing me up into itself, "My God, how do I get free?"
Withing the sultry compounds, of the mother ships domain
I am poked, prodded and tested, "How long must I remain?"
Then an awful creature, that looks likes it's from hell
Begins to look me over, "Oh this isn't going well!"
"We want you for a speciman" was all that it would say
"Like hell!" I think, :You jerk! Not if I have my way!"
I kick and scream and fight, and will not let him win
Because I know for sure I'll be a goner if I give in
The creatures eyes are full of hate, his talons so razor sharp
They tear at me and cut so deep "Oh God, he has no heart!"
The fight goes on and blood does flow, I begin to feel so weak
But deep inside I know that I will have my winning streak
Those hate filled eyes bear down on me and turn my blood to ice
I rip my nails across his face, I grab his throat like a vice
God is on my side today, His love shines down on me
For as I fight so valiantly, it seems I might break free
He fights back hard and grabs my wrists, and tries to wrench them free
But I hang on and squeese his throat, I will not let him be
His arms go limp, his body flops, his hands, they slide off mine
His eyes go dull, his tongue lolls out and in the nick of time
I loosen my grip and watch him slide on the the silver floor
And then my heart begins to race, I have to find the door
I run like mad from room to room, looking to find a way free
And then I see the sweetest thing, my eyes will ever see
I find the key, the room to my freedom, I find my way out
I feel so happy, so light, so free, that I begin to shout
I pull the levers, I push the buttons and then I hear a noise
I see a light begin to grow, and then I lose all poise
I run, I skip, I leap, I fly, I nearly trip over my feet
I see the light that beamed me up, then I don't feel so weak
I close my eyes and enter the beam, and feel it take me back
Into the world I'd thought I'd lost, I survived my cruel attack!
A Friend
My friend you are so special
You're more like family
And if you ever need me
I'll make sure that I am free
For without such friends as you
Who knows where I'd be at
Probably wandering a lonely path
And no one should go through that
My friend you cheer me up
You're there through thick and thin
You bring hope back into my life
When I feel I cannot win
You're there to share the good times
The heartache and the pain
Like all good friends, you're there for me
And I hope this will remain
So when you're feeling happy
Or you're ever sad or stressed
Call upon a friend you know
For with a friend you're blessed!
Meeting Strangers
Riding on the train today
I had a funny thought
To write a poem about a pea
But that I'd done before
"Meeting a stranger" said a voice
Quite resonant and quite proud
"Hmmm", I thought, "Now that is good!"
I even said aloud
Meeting strangers can be fun
And even quite bizaar
If you're like me and up the tree
You can even take it far
Talking, learning, laughing
Even making friends
My thoughts ran dry, my brain is dead
So this is where it ends!
New Years Day
I open up one eye
And slowly look around
I open up the other eye
What is that awful sound?
My ears are ringing loudly
Cotton woll is in my mouth
My clothes are hanging everywhere
My shoes are way down south
I desperately try to remember
What I had done last night
I'd look at myself in the mirror
But really don't want that fright
I screw my face up thinking
Trying to make it clear
Oh yes I had been partying
Bringing in another New Year!
Life By The Seaside
Sunshine hits the water
And turns the waves to gold
The wind touches the white caps
And makes them look so old
The waves rush to the shore
Then run back to the sea
I sit down on the sand
And look at all that's before me
Hermit crabs scurry across the sand
Looking for a place to hide
I reach my hand out to catch one
I want to see what's inside
Seaguls fly overhead
Looking for a place to land
They sore in close to look at me
Then touch down on the sand
Children play by the water side
The teenagers on the rocks
The grandma's hide under their umberellas
The lovers walk along the docks
Fishermen cast their rods
Into the foaming blue
I sit here in wonder
And wish I was there with you
My Cat
My cat is quite unique, and as intelligent as can be
There are no more like her, it's very plain to see
She jumps up on my lap, and doesn't really care
If I'm working on my poetry and don't want her there
She has her little ways, to let me know she's here
The pin holes in my page, show me she wants me near
I give her love and full attention til she thinks she's had the lot
Then she'll jump down off my lap, she's really lost the plot!
Cat back on my lap, she won't leave me alone
She even has a hissy when I'm on the phone!
She claws my legs to bits, and nibbles on my ear
If she doesn't stop it, I will kick her in the rear!
Loony
Boy it's fun to be loony
To be described as "completely mad"
I can say such things as "Gogglefruz"
And not be thought of as bad
I can wear my crazy clothes with ease
And even my special cap
I am free to be just who I want
Now, what do you think of that?
Life is much more interesting
When you are out of your tree
People think you're terrific
And wish they could be so free!
The days have much more meaning
The nights are full of fun
My mind, it flows from thought to thought
I don't mind where it runs
I'm not bound up by society
Or put in some small box
And if they try to label me
They can go and kiss an ox!
I am me and that is that
Never will I be
Put in this world's conformity
Forever will I be free!!
True Friends
True friends are there for each other
True friends really care
True friends look after each other
True friends always share
True friends love unconditionally
True friends are the best
True friends always forgive each other
True friends forget the rest
True friends never give up the friendship
True friends are quite rare
True friends understand each other
True friends are always there!
Promise Of A New Day
The stars turn out their lights
And disappear from the night sky
The moon has lost its shine
But will return tonight for another try
The sky is tinged with pink
The rays burst over the foam
The sea gulls fill the air
Searching for a place to roam
The waves rush to the shore
Washing shells up on the beach
Crabs scurry across the sand
I want to catch one, but it's out of reach
The sun peaks over the horizon
And turns the waves to gold
A promise of a new day
For all it is foretold
Cyber Eyes
Cyber eyes that look at me
Through laughter and through tears
Cyber words that speak to me
And calm my inner fears
Cyber arms that hug me tight
And never let me go
Cyber hands reach out to me
In friendship I always know
A cyber heart that loves me dear
As family and nothing more
A cyber smile to cheer me up
When life is a rocky shore
A cyber friend to pick me up
When I have fallen down
A cyber prayer I join with you
That our friendship will abound
