Donald and Mary McPherson

Donald McPherson was born at Glenmuick, Aberdeenshire Scotland in 1814, son of William and Ann McPherson and was baptised 17 May 1824. He married on 21 July 1844 at Glenmuick to Mary McIntosh, baptised at Braemar, Aberdeen on 7 Mar 1819, daughter of Donald and Elizabeth McKenzie. (Crathy and Braemar are United Parishes, Braemar is said to be the Parish most removed from the coast of Scotland, as well as the one most elevated from sea-level.)
Their children are
1. Mary Ann 5 Apr 1842,
2. James 18 Nov 1845,
3. Jane 16 June 1849
4. Margaret Josephine 17 Oct 1852.
The family arrived in Melbourne on the Priscilla, 25 July 1853. Donald had to repay £23.14.2 and on 30 Sept 54 made a payment of £7.19.6 (one third)
Donald died of Dropsy on 10 July 1863 at Deep Creek, near Daylesford, where he was a miner, and had been sick 7 months.

3. Jane McPherson born 16 June 1849, died 1900 aged 49, wed 1867 to Giacomo Monotti 1838 - 1908, born at Cavigliano near Locarno in southern Switzerland, son of Antonio Monotti, and came to Australia after his fiance died, who arived in Melbourne 12 Feb 1855 on the Gipsy Bride - see Gipsy Bride web site - and settled in Daylesford, Victoria.

I do have the marriage certificate and Emma Monotti's death certificate. According to both certificates Emma was born in Daylesford and married at 20 years of age.

And I followed Gaele's clue.

Please repeat what I have done, to see if the same result comes to you.
You know that I have dispaired in finding Emma's birth.
So after reading your email, I opened my Diggers to 1888, and to search I started with Event - b, and Birthplace Daylesford.
Bit the bullet, as christian names are often reliable, so entered Father Peter, Surname M* (Starts with M, and wildcard) and Given names E*, and I started trolling through the years, began with 1870 and at 1873 I found
MCGINNES Emma B daughter of Peter and Ann BENWELL at DFORD ref 1873 #23426
Brave now, so decided to see if there is a marriage of Peter Mc* to Ann, and found
MCGINNES Peter wed BENWELL Ann ref 1860 #3201
Going a step further, after finding 10 children for Peter and Ann Benwell, I looked at Benwell, and found
Assisted Shipping does have a Benwell family (with each name twice because the index is a combination of Departure and Arrival lists, so it looks like Ann Benwell who married 1860 came 1848 aged 4 (hence 16 when she married and had her last child in 1882 when aged 38)
And in the Assisted Immigrants I found
James Benwell aged 28 came May 1848 on the William Stewart ref 2/3 - 320 with Elizabeth Benwell aged 28 and Anne Benwell aged 4

Now to English records, marriages and found
James Bennell (Benwell?) wed to Sep 1844 to Elizabeth Smith at Thame, Vol 16 page 175 (the district Thame spans the boundaries of the counties of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire)

Stumbled across your site doing the favoured internet search of one's name. Item 3.4 of your listing for Donald and Mary McPherson lists an Ernest Monotti and some "unexplained links".
Some answers. Ernest married a second time and had a further son Ernest Mervyn Monotti. This is my grandfather. Ernest married Elsie Anderson and had 5 sons. The eldest John is my father. Janet was Merv’s (as my grandfather was known) 2nd wife. Simon, the infant who died from electrocution in 1973 was my cousin. Peter was one of the 5 sons of Mervyn. Francis Read Monotti (Frank) is still very much alive and has done extensive research of the family tree. Would you be interest in more information?

4. Margaret Josephine McPherson 17 Oct 1852 - 28 Jan 1885 married 19 Oct 1871 to Frederick Guscetti, born 30 July 1848 at Quinto, Ticino, Switzerland, who also arrived 12 Feb 1855 on the Gipsy Bride, the same ship as Giacomo Monotti.

Details from Margaret's Death Certificate
Margaret is named as Cursetti and Frederick is described as a Charcoal Burner in the Inglewood area. She died of consumption at Inglewood hospital after being treated for 6 months by Dr Adam. The Informant is John Rosser, Authorised Agent at Inglewood and she is buried in the paupers section of Inglewood Cemetery. Her grave can not be traced. The Funeral Director's records have her surname as Buzzetti and the Death Certificate was corrected on 13 March 1885 to Guscetti. There are no family details.

4.1. Frederick Severinus Guscetti 10 July 1872 - 27 Mar 1960, wed 1901 #7195, to Johanna Mahoney 1873 - 1914, daughter of David Mahoney and Cath Trophy, who died at St Kilda, aged 41. Her parents are not in the Victorian indexes.
Frederick went to Newbridge school April 1879 aged 6 yrs 6 months, left in Dec 1885
Frederick Severinus Guscetti married (2) 1916, Katherine Harrison 1872 - 10 Sept 1933, daughter of Thomas Harrison and Katherine Campbell, she died from pneumonia at Alfred Hospital aged 61.
She married Frederick at St Kilda when they were both 44 years old.

2. Olive Sophia Guscetti 1911 - 30 July 1983, aged 72 died without children

4.2. Olive Sophia Guscetti 20 Mar 1874 - 15 Jan 1905.
Olive went to Newbridge school May 1879 aged 4 yrs 9 months, left in Dec 1886 She wed George Nelson Hitchcock on 2 Apr 1890 when she was 16 years old, and he was 21. Olive died at Tatura of Acute Pulmonary Phthsis after 6 months in medical care, aged 30, and leaving five daughters aged 13, 12, 10, 8 and not yet 2.

2. Isabella Guiditta Hitchcock 1892 #24678 - 1955, born at Kyabram, wed 1912 #5038 John Campsie Brown 1886 - 12 Feb 1950, died at the residence of his niece, Joy Isabel Skelton, 2 Albert St, Highett. He was the son of Mungo, wed 1884 to Margaret Ann Peel sons Nornam and Eric
3. Mary Hitchcock 22 April 1894 #13235 - 24 Dec 1948, born at Kyabram, she wed 1912 #1543 to Mark Brasher, 29 Sept 1894 - 19 Sept 65, born in Rushworth to Enos Brasher and Frances Tilla Phillips. Mary died from a Stroke Christmas Eve, was buried Christmas Day and her Death Notice was in The Age Dec 27th, 1948, children John, Doris, Edna, Joyce, Moira, Gwenda, Mark, Pamela
4. Olive Sophia Hitchcock 1896 #29021, at Kyabram died 1949 of Breast Cancer, wed 2 June 1919 #3703 to Joseph Charles Sloper born 3 Aug 1891 at Ararat ref 18756 and died 6 May 1969. He served in WWI, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for bravely saving fellow soldiers.
He was a son of William George and Sarah Pearson (who used the surname Giddens when the younger children were registered), who married 14 April 1882, children Joy and Pauline
5. Theresa Guscetti Hitchcock born 1903 #11561, at Kyabram, died 1948 of Breast Cancer, ref 6460 at Heidelberg, wed 1924 #1495 to Carl Gustaf Broman 1904 - 20 April 1952 #4894, son of Carl Gustaf and Elizabeth Emma Tarbat, children Gwenda, Lois

4.3. Frances Mary Rosetta Guscetti 7 Aug 1876 - 7 Aug 1956, aged 80, wed 9 Sept 1896 at St David's CofE, Llanelly to David John Arnold 4 Jan 1875 - 16 May 43, aged 68, born at Arnold to David Russell Arnold and Rosanna Myrtle Wilson wed 25 Jan 1871 at Tarnagulla.
Frances went to Newbridge school Sept 1883 aged 6 yrs 10 months, and left in June 1885 aged 8 yrs 7 months, when she went to live with the Metelmann family.
