Kerry, takes offence at some real or supposed breach of neutrality on the part of Sir Barry Denny, the sitting MP. A duel follows (20 October); at the first fire Denny is shot fatally through the head 'by the haphazard aim of a man who had never before discharged a pistol in his life' (see 1797)
* Sir Barry Denny's father-in-law, Crosbie Morgell (MP for Tralee), fills his pockets with stones and drowns himself in Dublin (12 November). His hat and umbrella are found 'purposely placed together on the wharf, in such a manner as to preserve them from the incurrent tide'. Richard Blennerhassett.born 23rd May 1772, a magistrate of Co.Kerry, m 1798 Fought duel 1813 with Daniel O'Connell's brother John O'Connell in an argument over politics. O'Connell went into the Billiard Room in Tralee and accosted Blennerhassett in terms which induced him to demand a meeting. They met Tue 19th Jan 1813 at Tralee, pistols, Blennerhassett supported by his friend Thomas Blennerhassett of Caherine [unidentified], O'Connell shot in mouth, seriously injured [The Times, 28th Jan], d Fri 28th Nov 1817 at Cahirciveen of a violent fever.

Peddling ny completed book to publishers, Who Murdered Nurse Florence Nightingale Shore?, an investigation into the unsolved murder of English army nurse, Miss Florence Nightingale Shore, goddaughter and relative of Miss Florence Nightingale.
