Autumn in the Ludington State Park. Fishermen find the State Park dam to be a wonderful place to drop their lines. Even if no fish are caught, the dazzling view of the changing colors is spectacular. Dam, Ludington State Park

Dam, Ludington State Park From the parking area you can walk across the dam. A foot trail follows the river on that side. A short walk brings you to this clearing, where this photo was taken.

Wintertime at the Ludington State Park can be beautiful, too. This picture shows water passing over the frozen and snowy dam. Bring some crampons if you plan to cross the dam during the winter! Dam during the winter, Ludington State Park

The original State Park Dam was built in 1859. By damming the Sauble river, Hamlin Lake was created. The original dam washed out in 1887. The Original Ludington State Park Dam, built in 1859

The second dam at Ludington State Park, built in 1888 This is the second dam at the Ludington State Park. When the original washed out in 1887, this dam was built. A year later, in 1888, the dam was operational. This dam washed out ten years later.

Back to the drawing board. In the year of 1912, this dam was built, which still stands today. The construction of the present dam at Ludington State Park Dam, completed in 1912.
