InfoShaman On Books

Welcome to my page about books, which is chronically under construction.

Here is a list of some underappreciated authors, many of whose books have been allowed to go out of print. Maybe someone from the publishing industry will see this, and...

David Carkeet If you search for him at Amazon.com you'll see that none of his older novels are in print. Someone should at the very least re-release "I Been There Before", "Double Negative", and "The Greatest Slump of All Time."
Manning Coles Prolific writers of espionage mysteries from the '40's into the '60's, the team of Cyril Henry Coles and Adelaide Frances Oke Manning created the curmudgeonly British agent, Tommy Hambledon. Sadly, none of these well-written mysteries seems to be in print.
David Dodge Author of mysteries and humorous travel narratives; all of whose books are out of print.

Gaviotas: A Village to Reinvent the World, by Alan Weisman . If humanity survives our current ecological crises, it will be in large part because of communities such as Gaviotas, Colombia, and Curitiba, Brazil.
What Are People For? , by Wendell Berry . Almost anything by this prolific poet, novelist, and essayist is well worth reading, but this title is a particularly good place to begin.
Ishmael, by Daniel Quinn , which can be ordered through this link . A novel about a talking gorilla's grasp of human prehistory and future? Despite the apparent strangeness of this concept, the messages and warnings contained in this book are of major significance. Ted Turner was impressed enough to award the author $100,000.
Your Money or Your Life by Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin. An excellent resource for rethinking one's relationship to money, and for planning toward financial independence.
