Gathering Applicants
Position Postings
There are two major types of audiences for job ads or postings.
The first is internal; majority of companies first attempt to attract
those within the company to apply for the position now vacant or newly
created. During the internal posting phase, the position would only be
open to internal applicants and while you might have a “back door” into
the company your application might not reviewed because you are classified
as an external applicant.
Once the internal applicant pool has been exhausted, the company might
open the position to the general public. Here is your chance to attract
the attention of the recruiter.
External postings typically emerge from the following sources:
-
Local colleges, universities, or job fairs
-
Newspapers or trade magazines
-
Professional organizations
-
Websights
Here are a couple of Canadian focused employment sights
Monstar.ca, workopolus, etc.
