Storage/Preparation
of
Kopi
Luwak The following tips will help in
brewing a great cup of authentic
Kopi
Luwak coffee.
You will also find them helpful in preparing any fine roast:
Storage-
We take the utmost care to ensure that our beans are shipped as fresh as
the day we receive
them (often it is). We recommend storing Kopi Luwak in a clean, dry, dark location. Coffee does not require
refrigeration. The
beans will keep indefinitely, but for maximum flavor we recommend using
them within two
weeks of arrival. If you will be storing your supply of Kopi Luwak longer
than two
weeks, we recommend keeping them in the freezer.
However, like exposure to air, freezing coffee can have a damaging effect.
If freezing is
necessary, make sure to use an airtight container.
Grinding-
Be sure not to over grind. We recommend grinding beans until they are about the
consistency of course sea
salt. Your coffee maker may have further recommendations for what type of
grind will produce
the best results. Grind enough beans to produce approximately 2
tablespoons of ground coffee
per serving.
Of course, we will single-batch grind any order for you upon request.
Brewing-
Preparing a good cup of Kopi Luwak is no more difficult than ordinary
coffee. Of course,
steps can be taken to ensure maximum flavor. Starting with filtered or
spring water is
recommended. Tap water could potentially impart flavors to the coffee. As
mentioned above, a
good guideline is to use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 6-ounce cup.
If you wish to
brew espresso, use 7-8 grams for a single shot. These amounts can be
adjusted for personal
taste. If your brewer has a time control, brew for 4.5-5 minutes, and
serve steaming hot. Enjoy! |
