Our Courses & Other Services

Classic French Study

In addition to our specialised courses, we also offer classic French studies at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.  While there is a strong emphasis on pronunciation, speaking and listening skills, these courses also cover grammar, reading and writing skills in depth.  This allows students to progress logically efficiently towards fluency in French.

Conversation Classes

These courses are ideal for improving fluency and learning more about spoken French without the need for detailed grammar study.  We offer conversation classes that focus on a range of specific topics and areas of language and use materials appropriate to the level of the students.

Beginners' Conversation 1 gives students the confidence and ability to cope in a number of specific situations including: introducing yourself, buying food, buying clothes, ordering in a restaurant, describing people and places and expressing likes and dislikes.

8 sessions x 1.5 hrs

In Beginners' Conversation 2 students talk about their everyday lives to learn and practise the vocabulary of daily activities.

8 sessions x 1.5 hrs

Intermediate Conversation 1 extends the students' skills to talk about past and future activities such as holidays or projects.

6 - 8 sessions x 2 hrs

Intermediate Conversation 2.  Let's read and talk about a French children's book.  Students learn to describe what they see in the book and its characters.

6 - 8 sessions x 2 hrs

Advanced Conversation  Let's talk about a book, a movie, a show, a play, a meal, ...

6 sessions x 2 hrs

Travellers' French

The French for Travellers course is aimed at those planning to travel to France or a  French speaking country.  Students gain confidence in coping with a wide range of situations such as ordering food and drinks in a café, booking accommodation, using public transport, asking for directions, shopping and making phone calls.  The course focuses on oral communication and reading skills by working with a range of texts including train tickets and timetables, menus, signs and announcements.

Vocational French

This course is aimed at those who need to acquire French language skills for their work or business.  Students are exposed to a range of situations they are likely to encounter when doing business in France or with French speakers.  Students will gain the confidence to interact informally in French and gain an appreciation of French business culture.

French Pronunciation

This course is aimed at beginner and intermediate students who wish to improve their pronunciation skills.  A wide range of strategies are used to help you recognise and produce the sounds of French.  Students participate in practical exercises which include: the association of a movement with a sound, listening exercises (tapes and dictation) and oral activities (using songs, rhymes and reading).

French Grammar

This course helps students to understand the essential ingredients that make up the logic of French grammar.  Each session will demystify a grammar point through explanation and enjoyable practise activities.

French for Kids

These fun, activity-based classes for children aged 3 - 6 years are a great way to introduce your child to French language learning.  With activities such as stories, painting & colouring, nursery rhymes, games, cooking and more, your child will practise everyday French in a home environment. The class size of 3 - 4 children ensures individual attention.

Private Tuition

For students requiring one to one tuition, we offer private tuition.

Intensive Courses

Whether you're preparing for a imminent trip to France or simply have limited availability, if you require intensive French instruction over a short time period, we can create an intensive program of lessons to suit your requirements.  For example, courses can be designed to run for 4 hours/day over 5 - 10 days.  Contact us to find out how we can tailor a program for you.

Theme Weekends

The ultimate in enjoyable language study, our theme weekends offer a chance to have a French cultural experience right here in Melbourne and practise speaking French at the same time.  Whether it be a cooking weekend, a French film or theatre weekend, you're sure to have a great time while improving your French.
