Jonny] [Dr. Quest] [Jessie] [Race] [Hadji] [Bandit] [Surd] [Rage] [Zin]

JONNY QUEST

Jonny Quest, 13/14, the main character of the show, is quick-witted, resourceful, fast, athletic, and extremely bright.

Jonny's smarts are of the practical sort; his mind is engineered to think out ways of escape from dangerous situations, rather than computing scientific formulas.

While seemingly thick-skinned and resilient on the outside, deep down Jonny harbors enormous grief over the loss of his mother, Rachel Quest, when he was young. He also possesses an extremely strong drive to give pride to his father, as is evidenced in the episode "Thoughtscape".

Jonny forms tight relationships with those around him. His best friends include Hadji Singh, Jessie Bannon, and Bandit. Dr. Quest is his father figure, while Race Bannon is his role model.

DR. BENTON QUEST

Dr. Benton Quest, 52, a phenomenologist, is the brain of the team.

He is the inventor of Questworld, a virtual reality dimension. Questworld makes many things possible for the team, but it also can bring great danger.

Dr. Quest often has a knack for solving global threats without killing everybody. His scientific learning, computer abilities, and great wisdom concerning the natural world often is the difference between catastrophe and peace.

Dr. Quest's love for Jonny runs deep. It is clear to see that he would give up his life without hesitation to save his only son's. Jessie Bannon and Hadji Singh are close to him like his own children, yet they take on more the role of his assistants or apprentices, due to their love of science.

JESSIE BANNON

Jessie Bannon, 15, has been described as almost a cross between Jonny and Hadji. This is arguably true. She possesses Hadji's quiet intelligence with Jonny's athleticism and resourcefulness.

Jessie's character flip-flops between seasons. The first she is on par with Jonny's physical abilities, and has to be rescued about as often as she rescues. Second season she is dumbed down considerably, plays the role of the damsel in distress, and is more of a handicap than an asset to the team.

Jessie gets along well with Jonny, although their competitiveness causes a minor rift to arise between them more than once. Second season, Hadji becomes a bit of a love interest. She idolizes Dr. Quest, his inventions, and his work. She at times has difficulty dealing with her father Race, especially when he is arguing with his ex-wife -- her mother -- over things.

ROGER BANNON

Roger Bannon, nicknamed Race, serves as bodyguard for the Quests. He is cool, quick, and confident.

Having worked with the government for years, Race usually knows what's up and recognizes villians long before anyone else can. Race puts his life on the line to save Jonny, Dr. Quest, Jessie, Hadji, and even Bandit. A true man of action, his fighting scenes bring excitement into some otherwise dull parts.

Race is extremely close to Jonny and practically regards him as a son. There appears to be some distance between him and Jessie, since often it appears that he is with Jonny more frequently.

HADJI SINGH

Hadji, 16, is the oldest of the three children and was unofficially adopted by Dr. Quest in the 60s classic episode "Calcutta Adventure".

Hadji is the logical one of the group, offering proverbs and platitudes which, most of the time, fit the situation. He also offers advice where it is needed.

Hadji is a Yogin, which means that he practices the deep art of Yoga. He oftentimes meditates and uses his spiritual power to gain strength in the company of death. This is especially helpful when he needs to wriggle free of binding ropes.

His relationships in the Real Adventures series with the rest of the characters is a great deal different than from the classic series. He and Jonny are still good friends, but far more distant. Jonny is the less mature of the two and needs guidance from Hadji. The latter's connection with Dr. Quest changes from son in the 60s to assistant in the 90s. In the second season, he becomes somewhat of a love interest for Jessie as well.

BANDIT

Bandit is a white bulldog with a strange black mask-like marking over his eyes, hence his name. He is for the most part around to create a little comedy in tense moments. His antics often can get Jonny in trouble, or pull him out of it.

Even though Bandit considers Jonny his master, he will obey others too, to the dismay of Jonny. More than a little jealousy is evident in the second season.

JEREMIAH SURD

Surd is the most frequently-appearing villain of the series. While he is a paralyzed quadraplegic, his menace extends into the cyber realm of Questworld.

His mission is to get revenge on the Quests, especially Race, although his anger is misdirected. He constantly puts the team in danger with his computer hacking abilities. Julia and Lorenzo, who work for him, help to enable him still further to turn Jonny's virtual playground into an ever-present source of danger.

EZEKIEL RAGE

Ezekiel Rage, an insane, emotionally-cracked maniac, surges the world forcefully towards apocalypse. Mad with grief over the death of his wife, Abbey, and daughter, Carla, he continually tries to bring about the end of the world as revenge for their demise. The Quest team is often called into action to prevent global disaster at his hands.

DR. ZIN

Dr. Zin, the only non-family character to make it from Classic Jonny Quest to the Real Adventures aside from Jade, is a megalomaniac bent on taking over the world. No one knows exactly why he has a quarrel with the Quests, but their fued escalates to a dramatic showdown in "The Robot Spies", in which Zin is presumed killed at the end.
