-- Legislative and Local: Fees and Charges --

The following (created September 2003) represents what we have learned so far , it is not to be considered complete, and you should check your local police agencies for the most up to date fees and charges, if any.

"COSTS" here are limited to financial. There are far more costs incurred than financial. At one point we thought we could document the costs incurred by offenders and their families, but it seems there is a never ending list. Probably the single biggest cost is moving, because it happens so often due to community notification.

Prior to community notification these costs were nonexistent. Best explained this way, in society everyone has opportunities available to them throughout their life. All one had to do was to go for it, whatever it is. Community notification takes away "opportunity" and replaced it with "burdens (financial for one)." Now without the help of employment or someone charitable person, these "new-burdens" eventually lead to homelessness and welfare rolls, and for many on "LifeTime Registration," -for a lifetime-.

Community notification is the best example of a law that is self-defeating, what it sought to accomplish, it does for a short period, then over the long run, it defeats its purpose. There is no effective way to keep track of the homeless.
