Sifnos is one of the western Cycladic group of islands in the Aegean Sea. It has a population of between 2,000 and 3,000 people, depending on what season it is and who you believe. There are 8 distinct settlements: Kamares, the port; Apollonia, the 'capital' town (really a group of 6 villages: Apollonia, Ano Petali, Artemonas, Ayos Loukas, Exambela and Katavati); Kastrou, the medieval capital; Kato Petali, a medieval village; Faros, a sleepy little harbour; Plati Yalos, the most touristy village, built along a beautiful white beach; Vathi, a small village on a lovely bay; and Heronissos, a tiny harbour village at the island's barren northern tip. (Here's a map.) This variety, together with the many other points of interest and the mountainous terrain, makes it hard to get bored despite the island's small size.
