The medieval fortress capital of Sifnos, Kastrou, is built around massive ruins said to date from the 'Cyclopic' era, and sits on its own hill facing ancient enemies Persia and Arabia. Though presenting east and west with its longest side, magnifying its apparent size, the town consists of one main street following the ridge.
