They had a high image ultra sound done to try and determine what was going on, but they really couldn't tell at that point. Christopher was born on August 17, and had an u/s and an MRI done, and SB was confirmed. He has a low level myelomeningocele, at level s2. He has good function in his legs, bowels and bladder. They may discover later that this might affect his bowels and bladder, but again it is a waiting game at this point. They are monitoring him very carefully to make sure he doesn't develop hydrocephalus. He will have his head measured bi weekly for a while and will receive a cat scan in the near future to check on this. He also had a tethered spinal cord and will have surgery to repair that and the sac around the age of two.
