Great Cats Who Have Shared My Life

I had a dog when I was a kid, a cute little toy Manchester
terrier named Midget. But when I grew up and went into the real
world, I couldn't have a dog... dogs needed to be walked on a
regular basis. As a working woman, I wouldn't have the time.
Midget stayed with my folks and I got "George" at a shelter. And
the rest is history... This page is a tribute to the late,
great cats who have shared my life. My cats have all been
neutered housecats, and when their time was up, I cradled them
in my loving arms and cried over them as they breathed their
last. It was the least I could do for those dear friends of mine.....

If It Should Be

If it should be I grow frail and weak
And pain prevents my peaceful sleep.
Then you must do what must be done
When this last battle can't be won.
You will be sad, I understand.
Selfishness might stay your hand.
But on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship take the test.
We've had so many happy years
That what's to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer. So,
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend.
Only -- stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me.
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know, in time, you, too, will see
It is a kindness that you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Do not grieve it should be you.
Who must decide this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years......
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Sue, of Sue's Furry Family sponsored this
sweet little Opal in memory of our beloved "Pooh".
If you click on Opal, you can visit the Furr-Angels shelter
and see the great work they are doing... and maybe find
a furrbaby of your very own!
Thanks so much Sue and Zoe (of Furr-Angels)
