With the Internet's World Wide Web, our messages can now be read by anyone throughout the entire world. READ this carefully

TIP for preparing a query: give as much information as you can . . .

about your ancestor; the more information you include with your query, the better the chance of someone else being able to "link up". If you don't know dates, then estimate a time period ("1760's"; or abt "1810", etc.); in other words, if it is obvious they were born in the late 1800's, then say so. If you know these facts, be sure and include:

One-line queries usually don't get much response simply because there isn't enough information for anyone to make a connection so try to provide as much data as you can. Please limit your query to about one-half of a regular typed page.

Remember -- someone else might not know about your ancestor but they may know about a brother or sister and thus be able to help you make a connection.

PHILLIP WARD

Looking for info on the parents of PHILIP WARD, born prior to 1700. The first record found on Philip is in Quaker church records of Pennsylvania from the early 1700's. He was married to AMY ("Emey") ALLEN, dau. of JOHN ALLEN I and AMY ("Emey") COX. John Allen was born in Ireland. I am particularly interested in the earliest Wards, especially those with the name PHILIP, THOMAS, and JESSE WARD. Quaker church records show that several Wards from Pennsylvania were issued certificates so they could join "meetings" in North Carolina in the mid to late 1700's. The Quakers call their places of worship "meeting houses" and their congregations "meetings". This was when large numbers of folk from Pennsylvania settled in the Piedmont area of central NC and in western North Carolina. From there, their descendants spread westward, especially to Kentucky and the Midwest.

JOSEPH J. WARD
1855 Henry Co., AL. to FL.

My sister-in-law has been trying for years to get information on her grandfather, JOSEPH J. WARD who came to Central Florida from Henry Co., AL. abt the 1870's. He was b Henry Co. Dec 1855. He left Alabama when he was 21 (about 1876) for Central Florida. He was interviewed abt 1939 and he said he left home so he could get out of picking cotton. At the age of 84 years (at time of the interview), he said he never returned to Alabama. We have never been able to identify his parents. We made a trip to Henry Co. in 1994 and went through census records but were unable to find him. We were told by some older family members (not confirmed) he had lived with two "old maid" aunts when he was young, possibly he and a brother. We thought maybe his father had died in the War for Southern Independence (1861-65) and that was the reason they were orphaned--this is just speculation though. He married twice, first to NANCY BARBER ( they had no ch) 2nd to LAURA ALDERMAN they had 5 ch: JOSEPH, HENRY, WILLIAM, HAZEL and GWENDOLYN. Any info you could share would be greatly appreciated.
