State election results continued:

MUNDINGBURRA: Trevor Elson ran third with 18.43% of the distributed vote. The PHON primary vote in 1998 was 24.56%. ALP won with 39.8% of the PHON preferences. ALP has held this seat since 1912 with a break in 1996-1998.

NICKLIN: Clinton Booth ran second with 26.57% of the distributed vote. 1998 PHON distributed vote was 26.89% so we are holding up well in an area which is dominated by independent Peter Wellington who got 46.31% of primary votes.

NOOSA: Ernie Lake ran third with 17.63% of the primary and distributed vote. 1998 PHON similar vote was 14.3% so we increased our vote in a seat won off the Liberals by the ALP with 49.74% of PHON preferences. Won by 425 votes.

PUMICESTONE: Wayne Whitney ran third with 21.97% of the distributed vote. A redistributed seat where C.C.A. was strong. Interesting 3 way split in conservative vote....C.C.A. 15.49%, PHON 16.09%, Libs 17.83%. Easily won by ALP.

SOUTHPORT: Lesley Millar ran third with 16.17% of the distributed vote.1998 PHON distributed vote was 21.83%. ALP won it off the NATIONALS with 33.16% of PHON preferences although ALP was not forced to use preferences.

TABLELANDS: Rosa Lee Long won with 63.81% of the distributed vote.A huge primary vote of 36% plus a majority of NPA and Shaun Nelson's preferences did it. Retained by One Nation and we booted out that nasty Shaun Nelson. Hooray!

TOOWOOMBA SOUTH: David Hoy ran third with 20.94% of the distributed vote. 1998 PHON distributed vote was 24.1%. Retained by Nationals with 65.49% of PHON preferences. NPA vote has dropped to 44% from 66% in 1995.

WARREGO: Robert Burton ran third with 28.59% of the distributed vote. 1998 PHON distributed vote was 26.41%. Seat won by Nationals with 31.58% of PHON preferences by 96 votes from independent Wally Gleeson.

WATERFORD: June Woodward ran second with 32% of the distributed vote. 1998 PHON distributed vote was 44.79%. One Nation has now outpolled the Liberals twice in this outer southern Brisbane suburb. Won by ALP.

WHITSUNDAY: David Haselgrove ran fourth with 13% of the distributed vote. Won by PHON in 1998 with 51.73% of distributed vote. Conservative vote split 3 ways (PHON 12.36%, CCA 13.48%, NPA 24.18%) to give ALP the seat back.

WOODRIDGE: Alice Ngahooro ran second with 28.92% of the distributed vote. 1998 PHON distributed vote was 36.48%. One Nation has now outpolled the Liberals twice in this outer southern Brisbane suburb. Bill Darcy's old seat.
