First Generation
1.1 John (2) MUCHAMORE was christened on 23 Nov 1777 in Loddiswell, Devon, and died in 1855 in Plymstock.
The first reliable record of John (2) MUCHAMORE is his marriage to Elizabeth MORRIS in 1796 (see below). It is likely that he was born in the neighbouring parish of Loddiswell in 1777, the son of the John (3) MUCHAMORE who married Mary MORGAN in Churchstow on 14 Feb 1774 and had a daughter Mary MUCHMORE baptised in Churchstow in 22 May the same year.
[There were two other MUCHAMORE families living in Churchstow at the time. William (5) MUCHAMORE married Jane BOYS in 1774 but seems to have had no children. William (4) MUCHAMORE, a labourer, married Mary HILL in 1814 and had eight children. There is no evidence that either of these MUCHAMOREs was related to John (2); but it is known that when John (2)'s widow remarried, she lived next to the family of one of the children of William (4) and Mary.]
John was a labourer all his life. He lived in Churchstow until about 1808. Then he moved to Plymstock, Devon, where he was died as a pauper.
John married (1) Elizabeth MORRIS, daughter of William and Elizabeth MORRIS, on 3 Jul 1796 in Churchstow. Elizabeth was born about 1780 and died some time between 1841 and 1851. It seems that John deserted Elizabeth sometime between 1807 and 1809.
Elizabeth's parents had apparently moved with her to Churchstow in about 1780, where four further children were born.
Elizabeth had an illegitimate child Maria
Morris MITCHELMORE, baptised on 26 Nov 1809 in Churchstow. Maria
was living in Churchstow with her mother and her second husband in
1841, and in 1851 was a servant in the household of Thomas CAMP,
bailiff of Culverwell Farm, Churchstow. She married somewhere in the
Kingsbridge district in
1860.
Elizabeth married

HAMBLING, born about 1790 in Aveton Gifford, on 17 Feb
1815 in
Churchstow. They had one child, Mary Ann HAMBLING,
baptised on 23 Jul 1815 in
Churchstow.

John (1) MICHELMORE was christened on 31 May 1807 and died on 15 February 1872. |
John married (2) Mary ROWLEY on 13 Jun 1815 in Plymstock. Mary was born about 1775 and died in Plymstock in 1850. John and Mary do not appear to have had any children.
