The exciting sport of

BOUNDFIGHTING

BOUNDWRESTLING

Boundwrestling is simply wrestling with your legs bound together.
Not of the two opponents but of each fighter individually.

Its origine comes from ancient Greece. Pankratia (fight by all means) was a martial art with few rules. They needed a way to confine their skills during training. To work on the upper body they bound the legs of one fighter together so he could only make use of his arms and upper body.

BOUNDKICKBOXING

Boundwrestler's torso Boundkickboxing is done with the arms of a kickboxer bound to his back. This was first introduced in Japan. To train the techniques of the legs in Kyokushinkai Karate the arms of a karateka were bound to his back. Although this seems brutal it's a fact that in combat the fight is less harmful to the bodies. Most damage is done by punches repeatedly on the head. The boundkickboxer will less often be able to kick as high as the head of his opponent and probably not with the same speed and power than he was able to when he could have used his arms. 2 Against 1Lots of variations are possible in boundfighting. For example:

Water fighting

In water from 24 inch (60 cm) fighters may use a combination of kicks, punches to the body and wrestling technics. If a fighter is held under water for more then 30 seconds he has lost the fight.

Mudfighting This great fun is done in a pool with little mud (1 inch, 2 1/2 cm). Boys as well as playful adults love this as a sportive play.

Oilwrestling Famous Turkish oil wrestling contest for all males (children as well as adults). Bodies are rubbed in with olive oil which results in a need for more muscle power to hold on the body of the opponent. Traditionally done on the grass. As one can view this results in a lot af hard muscle bodies which are provided with massage during a fight as well. A guy named Ken has a Home Page about Kirkpinar.

Special Training Techniques Here are some special training techniques.

Individually:

 1. "Forced Abs" Abdominal training hanging from the legs above water: only by attracting his abs the student can keep his head above water or come up just above it. Shaolin monks were submitted to this training for hours.

2.1 "Tripod Down" An uncomfortable position in which the Martial Artist rests on his head, and one or two feet, butt in the air, arms on the back. This takes a lot of energy, especially from the abdominal muscles.

2.2 "Tripod Up" Same story but now face up, but down.
Beginners may have their head rested in their hands. Both Tripod exercises tell a lot about the general fitness of an athlete.

3. "Bench Balance" One's bottom rests on a small bench, fingers crossed on the head, the legs lifted in the air. Works on the abdominal and leg muscles.

4. "Butt Stick" The bottom rests naked on a stick of about 20 inches height, hands behind the back, on the head or even above the head. Leg muscles. The trainee on the left has to stretch a towel while keeping his legs bended:The one on the right seems to have enough control over his anus muscles to lift a bar-bell above his head while his but rests (naked under the black towel) on the stick

5. "Connected Nuts" A weight is connected through a (25 inch) rope to the nuts. The trainee has to stand with bended knees to avoid the weight to pull down from his private parts. The hands may be bount to the back or to the neck. It takes a lot of strength to keep the back straight. Back, abdominal and leg muscles.

Of course just doing push ups push ups one handed will not do any damage either ;-)

The Group: In a martial arts dojo or a military squad, power training can be stimulated by ordering one single guy to do push ups (or sit ups) continuously while others generally practise or are taught by a sensei or drill instructor. If the single guy is exhausted he may stopp but the rest of the group has to do push ups or sit ups continuously for the time the single guy rests. After a while the single guy will take up his exercise again and the group may continue the general practice.

This routine is done for several hours or a whole day and will stimulate spirit and performance.
