Fire Apparatus

This is a collection of the apparatus that the Westover Volunteer Fire Department owns and operates. In addition, each pumper has approximately $30,000+ in equipment to better aid the firefighter in an emergency situation.

Squad 231 is a 2001 Ford Excursion. Its main use is as a first response unit and personnel carrier to all medical emergencies. This vehicle contains the majority of our medical equipment including an AED. Cost: $32,000

Engine 232 is a 1988 Pierce Dash pumper. It has a top mount pump panel with a 750 gallon tank and a 1000 gpm pump. This engine's main use is for fires and motor vehicle accidents within Monongalia County. It is the first truck that all interested drivers begin their pump and driver training on. Cost: $119,000

Old Engine 233 is a 1947 American LaFrance pumper. This is the oldest apparatus that the fire department owns and is our pride and joy. The engine is unique because the pump panel is located on the passenger's side. Most of these same models were sent to California and other places in the west, thus there are not many of these same models located on the east coast. It has a 100 gallon tank with a 750 gpm pump.

New Engine 233 is a 1994 Pierce Saber pumper. It has a driver's side pump panel with a 750 gallon tank and a 1500 gpm pump. This engine was built specially for this fire department at our request. This engine's main use is for all fires and motor vehicle accidents in Westover city limits and for I-79. Cost: $195,000

Sqaud 234 is a 1989 Chevy Suburban. This vehicle is used mainly as a personnel carrier for all calls where extra people are needed and contains all the brush fire equipment. It especially comes in handy in the winter months. Cost: $23,000
