About Us |
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is an organization founded in 1908 by 16 forward-reaching individuals. This group of African–American women, lead by the vision and inspiration of Ethel Hedgeman Lyle, sought out to create an association of women whose goals were to promote high ethical and scholastic standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women, to promote a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has grown in scope and number since inception encompassing an international membership and program agenda. Zeta Tau Omega is the West Palm Beach graduate member chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. It was conceived in 1949 and has loyally served the Palm Beach County community for 50 years.
