Amanda & Jenny Jones

Amandas in limo on their way to play on national TV

One of the worst things on US television are those degenerated talk-shows that every tv station has. People all over the world are probably quite familiar with this type of shows, because (unfotrunately) those types of shows are adapted all over the world in all languages. All kinds of freaks, sexual perverts, ladies with beard or whatever are brought to studio and presented like everyday people with everyday problems. The level of discussions in those shows are very low, very often lead to fights in the studio. The sensation is the most important feature. Unfortunately, those shows are popular all over the planet and largely supported, which tells us a lot about us as humans. Also, by my observations, all those shows are big set ups and not only that those people are not everyday people, they are not even real nor their problems are real. It's a big big cicrus.

However, one of those shows, Jenny Jones Show had an interesting idea in April. Bands were called and a battle of bands was aired as a special of the show. Battles of bands were a big thing in the 50-es and 60-es. A bunch of garage bands of that time had a chance to record and publish thier songs at that time, and by that way kept one of the most important sounds in rock'n'roll. On Jenny's battle of bands, there was a large selection of bands and everything was all mixed up together. Rap bands, teen singers, some punkers... But, things were not quite different there as it may seem. Each and every band which performed there was deplorable. They were all just small entertainers hungry for big arena lights. They were all Limp Bizkit, Briney Spears and Backstreet Boys wannabes. All of them but one band, and that was Amanda Jones.

Amanda Jones, 5 girls armed with beautiful melodies, wonderful songwriting technique, sincere lyrics and good performing skills practically blew all other performers miles away. Three minutes of their song Voices was a great school of art for all who saw the show. Amanda Jones are artists who are standing behind their work, not puppets blinded by light of fame lead by greedy agents. And that was felt from the moment they took over the stage, form their first chord - untill Jenny took the microphone back and reminded us of reality. Magical moments don't last too long... If Amanda Jones stay long enough on the scene and continues with their efforts in finding their audience, I'm completely sure that they will have nice cult recognition all over the world. Their quality deserves that.

We need more diversions like those on national television. Maybe sending complicated messages to the average tv-watcher is not so bad idea. Maybe that's the way how to show what are the real values in life.
