POKÉMON
RED
AND BLUE:
It's a typical day in the coastal town of Pallet, in the
country of Kanto. Of course, it's a big day for a young
Pokémon Trainer named Ash Ketchum, who has just
turned 11, supposedly. Today is the day he can finally begin
a Pokémon journey. He knows there are at least 151
species out there, just BEGGING for him to come after them.
"Today is the first day of the rest of my life," he says
with a grin. He quickly grabs the potion stored in his PC
and goes downstairs for a quick breakfast. He kisses his mom
goodbye and goes outside. "I'll go to Viridian City and buy
some Pokéballs with the money I've earned," Ash says
to himself.
Ash knows that he won't be
alone on this road to greatness. His rival, Gary Oak,
grandson of the great Professor Oak, has high ambitions a
well. Ash knows that Gary's a snotty little trickster who
will probably try to stop Ash from becoming a Pokémon
Master any way he can. Ash looks around. Gary's nowhere in
sight. "He's probably still in bed," Ash says. "Looks like I
get a head start."
He's about to walk out into the field that separates Pallet
from Viridian when he hears an aged voice calling to him.
"Stop! Don't leave yet!"
Ash turns around. Why, it's Professor Oak, one of the
leading Pokémon researchers of the world. Many
Pokémon Trainers and Pokémon Watchers look up
to Oak as a guide and teacher. He's also Ash's next-door
neighbor. His giant lab and research facility is the only
interesting thing in dull-as-ditchwater Pallet Town.
"It's not safe out there, Ash," Oak warns. "Wild
Pokémon levels are at a record high, and some of them
are vicious little varmints. You'll need a companion to
protect you. Follow me."
Ash follows the aged man to his lab and goes inside. This is
the first time Ash has been allowed into the lab, and he's
amazed by all the gadgets and Pokémon he sees roaming
the hallways and hanging out in the research area, which is
an open field and a beach behind the lab. He follows Oak to
his office, where his mouth drops open. Gary's already
there! He didn't oversleep after all. Bummer.
"Morning, Gary," Ash says, attempting to be pleasant.
"Humph," Gary snorts. "Why'd ya want me here, gramps?"
"Ash," Oak says, ignoring Gary's rude comment, "there are
three Pokéballs here on the desk. They each contain a
Pokémon. One is Squirtle, a water-type. One is
Charmander, a fire-type, and one is Bulbasaur, a
poison/grass-type. You can take one."
"Yo, what about me, gramps?" Gary asks, sounding like the
imperialist he is.
"Patience, Gary. You can have one when Ash is done picking,"
Oak says.
Ash thinks it over, then chooses a Pokémon. Gary
rudely shoves Ash to the side and takes the Pokémon
that has an advantage over the one Ash picked. "Why don't we
have a little match, Ashy?" Gary asks, a nasty sneer on his
face.
"OK," Ash says. The battle begins. After a few rounds, Ash's
Pokémon is victorious, thanks to that Potion he had
in his pocket.
"URRRRRGHHHH!!!!!" Gary curses. "Fine. I'll train my
Pokémon into such a winner, he'll kick your tush the
next time we fight. Smell ya later!" He storms out in a blue
rage.
"Ash, before you begin your quest," Oak says, "would you
mind going to the Viridian item shop and getting a package
for me?"
"No problem, sir," Ash says, and in about an hour he returns
with a package.
"Ah, thank you, Ash. This is the custom Pokéball I
ordered," Oak says. Suddenly, Gary comes in again.
"Yo, gramps? Whatcha want me for?" he asks.
"Hmmph," Oak harrumphs and shakes his head. "Boys, these are
for you." He hands both of them a small, red, mechanical
device. "This is the Pokédex. I want you both to
record all the species of Pokémon that you can while
you're out there. Now, get out there and make Pallet
proud!"
"Leave it all to me, gramps," Gary snickers. "Ketchum
couldn't catch a Pokémon if his life depended on
it!"
Gary slugs Ash in the shoulder as he leaves the lab. Ash
looks after him, then glances at the Pokédex in his
hand and the Pokéball on his belt. "We'll see who
wins this rivalry," Ash mutters, and takes off into the
Route 1 field.
And the rest of the story is yours to write.....
POKÉMON YELLOW:
This story is just like the Red and Blue story, except Ash
is given a Pikachu who refuses to stay in a Pokéball
as a consolation prize when Gary statches the Eevee that Oak
was going to give Ash.
POKÉMON GOLD
AND SILVER
This story takes place
three years after Ash Ketchum became the undisputed
Pokémon Master. In Johto's New Bark Town, the
renowned Professor Elm recieved a phone call from a friend
named Mr. Pokémon. "Yes? What? Are you sure? OK, I'll
send someone right away." Professor Elm couldn't go on his
own, so he asked an early-teen boy named David (I'm using
the names I gave the characters; you can choose your own) to
go and get what Mr. Pokémon wanted to give him. David
agreed. Elm then let David choose one of his three rare
Pokémon. David chose one and left for Mr.
Pokémon's house. As he was leaving, he spied another
kid about his age with long, red hair and a black leather
jacket peering into a window to Elm's Lab. He certainly
didn't look friendly. David went over to say hello, but the
boy just shoved him away. "What the &^%#'re you lookin'
at?!" the kid asked with immense hostility. David shrugged
and went to Mr. Pokémon's house, allowing his own
Pokémon to battle wild Pokémon to increase its
levels in the process.
When David arrived at Mr. Pokémon's, he also met
Professor Oak, who was visiting Mr. Pokémon. "Hmmmm,"
Oak said. "I can tell you have great potential as a trainer,
David," Oak said. "Here, use this upgraded Pokédex to
find data on all the Pokémon in the world, including
the 100 newly-discovered ones."
"Yes, sir!" David said. Mr. Pokémon then gave David
his discovery; a Pokémon egg. David headed back to
Professor Elm's, but on the way he ran into the red-haired
kid.
"...," the kid said. "You got a Pokémon at the lab.
What a waste. A wimp like you. Well, I've got a
Pokémon too. Come on!"
The two battled and David's Pokémon quickly won. The
red-haired kid said "My name's Knuckle! I'm gonna be the
world's greatest Pokémon Master!" he shoved David in
the mud and ran off.
What will happen next?..........
