Essyl -
DM's Perspective: This prime druid is a devout
follower of Ellona, the forest maiden. A natural born wildshaper,
she came into the company of the Tagalong party by just missing falling
on the paladin Daelrick while on the World Ash
of Yggdrasil. Since that time, she has become the party's wilderness
expert (freeing Melane from that job and forming
a good friendship with her), and chief negotiator in most outdoor situations.
She also made a good friendship with the party's old mascot, Cheese.
While not much of a fighter, she's been critical to the party's success
in many other situations.
Glare/Glaradrin -
Character's Perspective: "Yeah, I'm Glaradrin.
You were sent to this dark corner by Melena, and
she trusts you? OK, that's good enough for me. Yes, the story you heard
is right. I'm part Steel Dragon, part Drow. The story is too long to tell.
Let's just say that I haven't lead the happiest life. But people do seem
more accepting out here. I may actually one day be comfortable. Who knows?
In any case, you want to know what I do? I exist. Sneak a little, fight
a little, you know, the general exile stuff. My heritage have given my
a few other abilities, but I only begin to understand when they decide
to manifest themselves. I wish I knew my father. He was the dragon part.
I just want to understand now. And maybe get some vengence back home. Right
now though, I need to stay out of Lloth's evil eye, as her minions are
still hunting me. Yeah, I do date back to the founding of 'the Company
of the Rose'."
Update: Glaradrin currently is under the
alias of Glare the Half-Silver Dragon, as a similaricrum of him was killed
in the City of Glass on the Elemental Plane of Water. He hopes that
this will finally throw the servents of Lloth off his trail. Maybe
then he can finally know peace.
DM's Perspective: Glaradrin was an NPC that became
important because one of the player's made him thus. He developed because
the character (Teb) kept insisting on talking the man
in a dark cloak who sat in the corner and the GM needed to make something
up. From that, Glaradrin was born, and his history evolved. Lloth is still
looking at him because of his unique bloodline, thus far not knowing where
he went (maybe). He is a member of the "Men in Dark Cloaks who Sit in Corners
and Glower" guild (LONG story on that one), and taught Janfri
when he accidently fell into the Realms. Overall, a very fun NPC.
Keon -
DM's Perspective: This human wizard (obsessed
with lightning) came to join the party in a bit of a rush, hiding from
a powerful wizard known as Malkite Lumm. However, he has proven to
be a valueable resource most days (there is that Wall of Iron in
front of the Civic Festhall though...). He has been resourceful,
and full of some wonderful b.s. (like during his time with the Eshiton).
This devous man, who managed to produce a copy of the Factol's Manifesto
when it was most needed, keeps mostly to himself, after Lebem
left. As he approaches Archmage status, he finds metamagical lighting
even more fun, when it doesn't accidently slay party members.
Merissa -
DM's Perspective: Merissa is a fiesty and beautiful
tiefling rogue/fighter. She also is a devout Doomguard member, even
with the destruction of the Armory during the Faction War. During
the war, she was personally involved in many of the battles and often calling
the troops to battle, she is still wanted by the Sons of Mercy, being framed
by a previous Doomguard high-up. Her mission now is to reconnect
with the Doomguard troops in the four negative enery quasi-elemental planes
and become a Doomlord. She never keeps her opinions quiet, and often
acts just to annoy opponents, or to lightened a doomed feeling. A
very dangerous opponent to have.
Melane -
DM's Perspective: Melane is an Assimar Ranger/Cleric.
Originally, she was a Godsman (her faction), but with the exile of the
factions and the merging of the Godsman and the Signers, she has struck
out on her own with a few loyal followers to create the Church of the Source,
old Godsman who still believe in the power of the Source. Currently
she is working on creating the religion's focus in the town of Crux on
the world ash Yggdrasil. Up to the faction war, she was a staunch
Godsman with strong loyalty to Factol Ambar. She and Teb
were the original founders of the Company of the Rose, and has been a planewalker
for most of her life. It helps her forget her family back on Mt.
Olympis, including her great-great-grandfather Hermes. Instead, now
she has to worry about sorting out her feelings for both Glaradrin
and Lebem.
Update: Recently, Melane died and was
reincarnated as a male bariur. Since then she was polymorphed back
to an Asimar, but it was Keon's vision on her. It is no suprise she
came out of it more "curvy".
Rasca -
DM's Perspective: Rasca, a planar human, is the
party's ex-bodyguard. He's worked for many different people in his
time, and doesn't like to talk about it. However, he is the muscle
of the party, and seems to keep running with large, intelligent weapons.
His current one, Lifeshielder, was once an ancient elvish king before becoming
a sword. But at least it seems to have a good sense of humor about
it, as Rasca is very much a rascal as his name suggests. His mirth
continues to improve the party moral, but no one is quite sure how they
picked him up, or why this follower of Thor keeps on hanging around.
Tara -
DM's Perspective: This female prime paladin is
a devote servent of the goddess Sif of the Norse pantheon. She seemed
very shell-shocked by the planes for quite a while, but seems to be settling
in herself fairly well now. Whether it's a huge tree, a randy giant
goat-man thing, or even demons and angels walking the streets, this brave
champion has found herself in many rough situations and is always to rumble.
Her recent troubles and an unfortunate death has her now known as the brave
super-soaking dwarf. Oh, how cruel the planes are. However,
now she's discovering the joys of being a dwarf, and seems to be enjoying
it greatly.
Daelrick -
DM's Perspective: Daelrick was a strong and brave
paladin in the service of Lathander of the Faerunian pantheon. His
straight forward actions, thoughts, and very prime beliefs (no matter what
plane he was on, he tried to figure out where the sun would rise) marked
him as a very different sort for the party. However, his brave combat
(sometimes when not needed) helped prove his mettle to the entire party.
It was in brave combat that brave Daelrick bravely faced disintegration
at the hands of an ancient fighting wizard holding a mighty artifact.
He was bravely missed as "that silly prime paladin". :)
Ed -
Player's Perspective: Ed grew up being tormented
continuously by bullies. His family was also forced into hard times by
the local ruler. He eventaully learned how to circumnavigate negative situations
for his own well being. Physically, he is a dark cloaked and gloved figure
with a broadsword and sling. He tends to not be a very social person. He
usually keeps to himself and seems very mysterious. Although not one to
run from a conflict, he usually waits and looks for the best opportunity
to act. Dependable, you can expect him to be..., somewhere when needed,
with a trick or two up his sleeve. He is driven to defend those who are
repressed by more powerful forces.
DM Response: This human follower of Athena
was good and solid, particularly in his goddess's eyes. He loved
his companions and helped them through many scrapes. He currently
rests as a petitioner in Athena's realm in Arboria, and as a lump of rock
in Pandemonium.
Janfri -
DM's Perspective: Janfri was born an Athasian
slave. This mul (half-human, half-dwarf) had his vocal cords cut
in his youth and spent most of his life completely mute. After escaping
a Torilian wizard who "collected" him this fighter/psionicist stayed with
his liberators, quickly becoming part of the Company of the Rose.
After helping them deal with the scourage of the Iron Shadow (a creativity
draining disease) and joining the "MiDCwSiCaG" (see Glaradrin),
he left the group upon hearing of danger to an old friend of his.
No one has seen nore heard from him in well over four years.
Jericho -
DM's Perspective: Jericho was a male chauvenist
pig, in the player's original words. He was an aasimar bard/priest
of Hermes. Originally joining the party with his companions Merissa
and Millet (interestingly, both female) while they
cooled their heels at the Planewalker's Guild on the Infinite Staircase.
He seemed overly interested in Melane, and even asserted
that her great, great grandfather was the real source of her clerical power,
but was never able to convinve her. His greatest assets were is boldness
in action and silver tongue at all times. Of course, both caused
his death when he taunted the happy sphere of annialation. Since
then, he has been reincarnated as a bariur (something he was strongly displeased
in) and has since worked for his lord in Hermes' Den on Mount Olympus.
Kali -
DM's Perspective: This elven arcane archer
used his heartbow to great effectiveness during her time walking the planes.
Kali and her friend "Fletch" the holliphant were key supporters of the
party after the Faction War in their quest to return Reebon's
remains to Jericho. However, problems in the
small city of Arkenos at the base of Mount Olympus led to her too early
death. She will be morned.
Lan -
DM's Perspective: Lan was a young, nieve
elf mage on the world of Toril. Any early companion of Teb,
LeCarra,
Melane,
and Thesra, he was strong willed, yet unsure of himself.
His quarrles with Teb and Melane led to him leaving the party to strike
out on his own. Someday, he will prove himself a mage of strong ability.
Lebem -
DM's Perspective: This minotaur fell literally
into the lives of the party just before the Faction War. Coming from
a little known demi-plane, he was found to have strong fighting and arcane
skills. Having nowhere else to go on his quest to go home and fullfill
a prophesy from his elders, he stuck with this party of heroes. He
even had noted emotional problems, being engaged at home and in love (shared)
with Melane. However, his skills were quite
stout, and when the Tempest of Doors reopened Sigil, he found a way home
quickly, leaving his questions, and destiny, behind.
LeCarra -
DM's Perspective: This female paladin of Toril's
god of Suffering was very focused on her loyal stead. Her equestrian
instincts originally led her to join the party, and her love of her world
forced her to stay on Toril when the others left to walk the planes.
That's all that can properly be said about her.
Millet -
DM's Perspective: This little elf fit her
familiar. Both were thin creatures of song. Millet was a song
mage of great ability. Her spells helped sustain and build her companions
throughout the entire return of Orcus story. Originally joining the
group after her small group with Merissa and Jericho
(where she really acted as a moderator), she quickly helped become the
magical force of the party. Until the group finally faced off against
the spectre of Orcus on the Astral, she was well trusted. However,
while there she smelled the pollen of a flower and fell to sleep immediately.
Afterwords, she woke, and promptly disappeared. No one knows what
has become of her.
Morningstar -
DM's Perspective: Morningstar was an ex-slave
who had great mental abilities. His 'wizardry' was such that he needed
no components or motion. However, he was also noted for his high
strength (noted because of his girdle). He faught valiently and well
for his friends. He met his final destiny when in a battle in Pandimonium,
he was polymorphed into a frog, and subsequently squished. His stout
mind was missed by all.
Quell'Ath -
DM's Perspective: If there was ever a true calming,
reassuring voice within the Tagalong Campaign, it was Quell'Ath.
He was a elven mage who's clarity of mind and power in all settings became
very important to the entire party. He was there right away when
violence was breaking out, calming it if it were internal, and destroying
the opposition when it was not. A primer who joined the party with
Morningstar,
Ed,
and A.J., he was the main magical power of the group
that kept it out of the most dangerous situations. Sadly, he died
in the explosion caused by the destruction of the Wand of Orcus.
He now petitions to become one with the Elven gods.
Reebon -
DM's Perspective: Reebon was a stone champion,
in every sense of the word. A earth genasi (meaning he was part elemental
creature) who was a paladin in the service of Geb (of the Egyptian Pantheon)
and law, he worked to bring some order to this most chaotic of groups.
He originally joined the group at the request of his friend Jericho
after Jericho became a bariur. Specificly, he was there to help and
watch out for Merissa. Marissa being a champion
of chaotic destruction and Jericho being a champion of lawful order, this
was a match that niether liked very much (in character; they loved it out
of character). Reebon (and his riding ahnkeg) finally died saving
Marissa's life against the final explosion of Alluvius Ruskin.
Thesra -
DM's Perspective: Thesra was a hot headed
and violent amazon warrior of Toril. A barbarian to the vary core,
she had problems right off with the group, and when the "uptight" paladin
of LeCarra showed up, she decided to abandon them
and seek out her own fortune alone. No one knows whatever happened
to her.
Xander -
DM's Perspective: Xandar was known to most
of the party as "the greedy elf". However, he served the party as
few have. Yes, this elven bard/mage was a greedy, conceited jerk
at times, but he was always there when the party needed him. His
loyalty to the group was well noted, and he alone proveded the magical
might neede to right the Infinite Staircase of the dreaded Iron Shadow.
He finally died when trying to teleport himself and others out of the deepest
layers of Pandemonium. The party missed him, and was glad to see
him gone all at the same time. Such bittersweetness is what most
of the Company remember, but all are very sad at his passing.
Xorliarrian-
DM's Perspective: Xorliarrian was not with
the Company of the Rose for long. A Sylvan elf warrior with phenominal
strength, the group met him he tried to sell LeCarra's
faithful mount. Insenced at the betrayal of the man who sold the
horse to him, he joined, and later died, full of rage charging at the thief,
William. Little did he expect the acid filled pit waiting for the
charge.
