I was born at
Bankura district in West Bengal
on 25 Falgun 1379 (Bengali). My father, Sri Aditya Prasad Goswami, is a teacher (retd.) of Bengali literature and so I have been very
much interested in Bengali literature since my school days. I still enjoy reading Bengali poems and novels. Whenever I travel I mostly carry a poetry book with me from my huge collections. My family is linked with Indian classical music. My great grand father late
Radhika Prasad Goswami
was a renowned Dhrupad artist from
Bishnupur Gharana and was music teacher of Rabindranath Tagore. He was one of the members of last millennium Bengalies made by Anandabazar Patrika along with Rabindranath Tagore. His nephew late
Jnanendra Prasad Goswami
(brother of my grand father) was a famous classical vocal artist with All India Radio. He came out of the Gharana with his unique style and popularised Ragpradhan and Najrulgeeti in Bengal. He was a very close friend of Kazi Najrul Islam. More about them are available in the book "Bishnupurer Amar Khahinee" written by "Sri Phakir Narayan Karmakar". But we are at present not staying at Bishnupur. My father left that place during his childhood. Unfortunately
I have not been able to keep the tradition of our family and have joined Physics. However, I do enjoy listening to music very much.
