Sting Timeline

Monday Nitro, April 5, 1999:

After working several house-show events, a fully-recovered Sting returns to WCW in the old black and white gimmick, and drops in (literally) on a four-way dance between Goldberg, Hollywood Hogan, DDP, and the world champ, Ric Flair. Clad in his trademark cloak and holding his signature bat, Sting points to the screen where it's announced by Randy Savage that at Spring Stampede, there will be a four- way match between Flair, DDP, Hogan and Sting, and the Macho Man himself will be the referee.

Spring Stampede 99', April 11, 1999:

Despite being a firm favourite with the fans, and despite making a dramatic return on the previous edition of Nitro, Sting loses the four-way match against Hogan, Flair and DDP when DDP pins Flair.

Monday Nitro, April 26, 1999:

Sting smashes DDP with a Scorpion Death-Drop to raise the world title, but loses it to DDP later in the evening in a pointless four-way featuring Nash and Goldberg.

Fall Brawl 99', September 12, 1999:

Sting defeats Hulk Hogan to win the world title and turns heel in the process when he uses a bat supplied by a returning Lex Luger.

Halloween Havoc 99', October 24, 1999:

After two stunning title defenses against Bret Hart and Chris Benoit, Sting gets a rematch with Hogan. In a right shocker, Hogan willingly lays down for Sting and the "match" is over in seconds. The fans quite rightly feel ripped off, but it's all part of Vince Russo's and Ed Ferra's plan. Later in the evening, Goldberg defeats Sting to raise the world title. Or DOES he?!?

Starrcade 99', December 19, 1999:

Over the previous month or so, Luger has been treating Elizabeth badly and double-crossing Sting. So, the only way to settle the dispute was to go at it at Starrcade: The Battle To End The Millenium, with Liz's contract on the line. Sting never trusted Elizabeth in the first place, and this becomes clear when she tries to spray him with mace but ends up firing silly-string at him! Not best pleased, she takes a swing at him with a bat, and catches him full- on in the jaw! The match is ruled a no-contest, and as a reunited Liz and Lex leave the ring, Sting is in some desperate need of medical help.
