ALWYN'S EMPIRE Book 1: The Grimoire WILLIAM MICHAEL CAMPBELL GENRE: Fantasy THE EMPIRE: an idyllic land of high mountains and fertile plains. Lord Alwyn Falconus, a wealthy antiquities dealer and Master of Castle FalconKeep, discovers an ancient parchment--a page torn from a book--which appears to have been written before the founding of the empire. The parchment hints at unimaginable forces and powers; are these what the ancient myths and legends refer to as "magick?" Alwyn and his young wife Elspeth vow to recover the rest of the book, but they are not the only ones who wish to unlock its secrets: the evil Lord Refa has visions of usurping the current emperor, and magick will give him the power he needs. PREVIEW OF ALWYN'S EMPIRE 2: Why is there a fifty-foot-high impenetrable wall completely surrounding the Empire, and why is there nothing on the other side except barren desert? Somebody knows what lies outside the wall because they send Alwyn and Elspeth a map, complete with an X-marks-the-spot. Is this the way out? If it is, what will Alwyn and Elspeth find in the middle of the desert? |
