A LITTLE ABOUT US...

     The Winterplace herd is a 22 years continuance and extension of the internationally acclaimed and richly bred GOLDEN HAZE Nubian herd of Calgary, Alberta. Following the footsteps of Robert and Joanne Burns and the legacy they created is our goal. We thank them for their continued support.

    Continuing to propagate the famillies of such greats as GCH Golden Haze Sunkist *M (EX/EX), GCH Fez Images Reflection *P (EX/EX), Wynneshire Super Annie 2*M (VG89), Wynneshire Force's Kahlua 3*M (EX/EX),  Tikity Boo Just One Look *M*P (VG89), Fez Sonja's Image In Shadows and Crown*Point Sweet Thalia 6*M (EX/EX). We have such pride and joy in working with these famillies.

    We feel blessed to have the final single "hold" on the genetics of the Intenationally acclaimed buck +*B Crown*Point Mama's Boy (EX), his 12 progeny here are awestriking.

    Please take note that our official DHIA rolling herd average April 25, 2003 is 1086kg milk, 67kg butterfat 40kgs protein, that's 2, 393 lbs milk of near 6% butterfat and an average BCA of 219-286-240!

    September 2002 herd classification found 18 Excellent, 34 Very Good & 5 Good Plus. Total 57 head average VG88%!

    We need to credit the unending support of The Burns, Russell Gammon and Sue Sarrasin. Without them, we wouldn't be where we are.

A LITTLE ABOUT OUR MANAGEMENT...

    To us a strong herd health program is coupled when a strong nutritional, exercise and management programs are backbone of keeping a healthy productive and profitable herd.

    We are free from all contagious diseases including abscesses and have always been so. We vaccinate with an 8-way to cover lepto., blackleg, tetanus, enterotoxemia etc. And also we vaccinate against CL abcesses. We have a rigid worming program including a cocci program for the kids, as preventive. we pride ourselves in our hoof care program and provide excercice in sunny clean and fresh pastures.

    We are CAE preventative. We are a closed herd, all of our goats were either raised pasturized or came from CAE negatives goats. We attend all births and have a rigid kid raising program to ensure large healthy, happy and productive kids at weaning time; our yearling does this year average right at 30 inches tall at the withers! Our kids are bottle fed 4 times per day to 10 days and 3 times per day to weaning. they have access to fresh clean water at all times, free choice top quality hay, 18% calf starter with coccidiostat as well as salt, minerals and sea kelp.

    Our does are fed grain 5 times per day, 3 in the barn always on clean swept mangers and two additional times in the parlour. they have free choice fresh top quality hay changed 3 times per day. Barns are cleaned daily and bedding changed daily of dried shavings topped with straw, coupled with extremely good ventilation provide a sparkling atmosphere. Does goes out for exercice year round and have access to fresh pasture spring through fall. 

    We truly feel what we put into our herd reflects what we see for results. Our goats are our pride, pleasure and our way of life. they are raised with love and care.
