Polish: Zaino Bros' Show Car Polish
Z1, Z2, Z6, Z10, Z12 from
Eckler's
- slightly cheaper with C5 Registry discount.
Z7, Z9, Z16, Z18 & Applicator, from Zaino Bros' direct.
#1) Wash car with Dawn Liqiud Dishwashing Detergent.
#2) Clay with Z-18 Clay Bar using Z-7 Car Wash as a lubricant.
#3) Wash car with Z-7 Car Wash. Much nicer than Dawn because its not sudsy.
Use one bucket of Z-7 and one of just water to clean the applicator.
#4) Apply a thin coat of Z-1 Polish Lok with applicator to the entire vehicle,
in a circular motion, no rubbing is necessary. Let haze, DO NOT WIPE OFF.
No drying time needed.
#5) Apply Show Car Polish Z-2 directly over hazed Z-1 Polish Lok.
Slightly dampen the applicator with Z-6 if not already wet, then apply Z-2 directly to
applicator.
On all Top surfaces of vehicle, use a back and forth motion (from front bumper towards
windshield). On all Side surfaces (doors, fenders, etc.) use a vertical motion,
up and down.
Let dry approximately 30 to 40 minutes or longer. Use Show Car Polish on all wheels,
metal, chrome, painted trim and plastic lenses. Remove with a clean 100% towel, turning
towel frequently until all polish is removed.
#6) Z-6 Enhancer: Do not put on Z-6 when the surface is hot.
Lightly mist 1' x 1' sections and towel off as you go. Turn towel frequently, until
completely slick and dry. Do not let Z-6 dry on car without wiping.
#7) Z-9 Leather Cleaner... Z-10 Leather Conditioner: Just wipe on and let dry,
no buffing is necessary. For vinyl too. Spray Z9 on a towel first, and then wipe on
to avoid overspray.
#8) Z-12 Glass Polish: I did not do inside of rear window due to defogger. you should
have a good glass cleaner on hand to finish this job. use z-12 sparingly because it can
just get messing. i am not sure what this does and if i would use it again.
#9) Z-16 Tire Gloss: Also use on hood, door & trunk weather stripping. Also use on
vinyl window & license plate trim. I used it on some engine compartment components.
Towels: 100% cotton polishing cloths, from
Griot's Garage
#1) These are useful in addition to towels as suggested by Zaino because
they dont leave lint & are easier to get into tight places. Since they are smaller,
they are easier to work with.
#1) Remove water after a wash.
The Blade is amazing at removing standing water and the absorber works
miracles where the blade cant get to. The absorber is a towel like sponge.
#2) Turn side mirrors out to drain.
Paramount PB80 Leaf Blower
#1) After using the Blade, this blows water out of lights, mirrors, handles & doors.
Then its easy to just wipe up with a regular towel.
California Car Duster from Ecklers
#1) I hoped this would remove brake dust. It doesnt. I guess the brake dust picks up
enough moisture so that it sticks.
Griot's Glass cleaner kit
#1) Leaves no streaks. Contains 10% isopropyl alcohol.
#2) The paper towels can be used a few times.
Z5, Z18 & Applicator, from Zaino Bros'
Liquid Glass, from Eckler's
#1) My car was hit in my work's sub-compact parking lot by an anonymous incompetent SUV driver!
None of these products have helped make it look any better.
The Products
I have done
