Hawaiian Tree Snail
The Hawaiian tree snail is native and can only be found in the
Hawaiian Island. The scientific name is Achatinella Spp. The Hawaiian tree snail are medium- sized
with a shell size 12-30mm in height (adult).
The shells are usually ovate in shape, often brightly colored. Also smooth or longitudinally corrugated,
with only minute and weak traces of spiral sculpture; color in spiral bands or
streaks in the direction of growth-lines; lip simple or thickened within,
sometimes slightly expanding; columella bearing a strong callous fold. This
snails can be found in Hawaii’s rain forest on some trees and also in
Honouliuli preserve.
