NATIVE BIRDS OF HAWAII 

 

 

    This is a picture of a pueo. This is a  pueo also known as  the short-eared owl. It often soars over woods and fields in the manner of the hawk.  

 

                

      This a picture of a Apapane. This bird is a honeycreeper and it sips out the nectar with it's down-curved bill. The Apapane sips the nectar's out of the ohi'a-lehua.    

 

      

 

     This a picture of a Hawaii's  'Elepaio.  This  native bird belongs to a family known as monarchs. This bird are  flycatcher and they can be found at Australia to the Pacific Islands. This bird is very friendly and confiding. It is also suffered a lot from the hands of man.    

 

                    

 

    This is a picture of Oahu  Amakihi. This is a  easy bird to see in the forest begin the city of Honolulu. Other places to find this bird is at Tantalus/Round top  loop and Lyon Arboretum. This species differs from other amakihi in that males are much yellowier below, and females are drab with prominent pale wing bars.
