We are continuously brainstorming on how we can help our community! And yes we have come-up with some concrete plans. In following sections we describe our current activities
MatrimonyParents in Burud community face problems in finding suitable match for their child, because of several reasons. Most Buruds generally stay in specific area of a city or village called as Burud Gali. Common Burud does not have knowledge of Burud families in most of other cities & villages. Several attempts have been made to create a database of all Buruds at district level. This database is not dynamic and often inaccessible to common Burud. Percentage of people belonging to Burud caste is relatively less, so most of the Commercial Matrimony websites and services don't have data specific to Burud caste. Parents still feel that it is better to get their child married within same caste. So with the basic intention of easing hardships of Parents we have decided to create a Matrimony website specifically for Buruds.
For ages our community has focussed on earning livelihood using Bamboo. Education was never a focus, leading to a very low literacy percentage. Even amongst literates, majority are school drop-outs. In recent years some children have started showing passion for higher education. We already have quite a few Doctors and Engineers. And its heartening to see that girls are at par with boys in this respect. By developing website on our own we intend to prove that we are at par with other developed communities. A team of BurudOnline members lead by Mr.Suresh Babu Arjunan, and comprising of Mr. Satish Sonawane, Mr. P. M Surywanshi, Mr. Santosh Goakak, Mr. Rakesh Shinde, Ms. Snehal Korade, Ms. Chitra More and Mr. Yogesh Pawar, saw to it that our dream becomes reality. Please visit BurudSamaj Matrimonial, and Mahendra Medara Matrimonial. These websites are customized front-ends for a single common database of Burud, Mahendra, Medara, Brides and grooms all over world. I am sure that this will benefit our community all over the world.
Community Websites We are developing community websites for each state specific caste. Each of such websites will provide a common platform for local organizations doing social work for our community. These websites will act as a communication medium for sharing thoughts and community news.These will also increase awareness about similar castes in other states, leading to increased interaction and unification. First such website, BurudSamaj was conceptualized, developed and launched on 28th Aug 2008. BurudOnline members will continue to develop such websites for other states too. Commercial Websites We are developing a commercial website as a mechanism for generating funds necessary for social work.The BurudSamaj.com website has been conceptualized by BuurudOnline and its development is in progress. This website will provide online platform for Burud Businessmen ( small and big ) to advertise their firm. In addition it will be used to sell products developed by Buruds. This website will be useful for those who are looking for Bamboo and related products.
