Haiku
(collection written Nov. 23, 1998)
I looked, looked again.
It would be there forever,
A moment ago.
Browned leaves flutter, fall--
The world's mascara's running.
Tears dry, come winter.
A child's light laughter,
Mother's strong hurried hands, calm.
A grandmother's sigh.

Laughter comes again.
A powerful life is Lived.
Grandmother smiles.
Energy races,
Heart throbs, wind roars, souls soar--fly!
Passionfire's freedom!
I reach deep within,
And I find Her, call to Her.
Joyful, She answers.
Rooted, I stretch, grow;
Blocked by a stone, I despair.
I turn aside, lost.

Turning, I sense warmth--
Stretch again, almost reach it.
I
will know sunlight.
