ROBERT
HAMPSON’S GIFT
Robert
Hampson is collecting the tabs from aluminum beverage cans to help
others less fortunate. The
irony of this statement and Robert’s action is the fact that
Robert is blind. He
lost his sight as a result of a tumor.
He also has cancer. In
spite of his own physical challenge, Robert is reaching out to
touch other human beings in need. When
the Walk of Hope’s founder, Norman Ball started recycling
aluminum cans he picked up on the road, he had a vision to help
children that needed wheelchairs and other medical devices. When
Norman heard about Robert Hampson, he cried with admiration and
respect for the compassion of this 9 year old.
Robert has inspired Norman and the Walk of Hope team to
undertake a massive campaign to help children who need
wheelchairs, prosthetics, life-saving medical devices and
operations. Robert’s
unselfish act in light of his own physical challenge, has touched
the hearts of the Walk of Hope team.
The result of his inspiration will reach around the world,
giving children hope to improve their quality of life.
We are very proud of Robert for his gift.
We can honestly say we are better for having known him. Thanks to
this courageous young man, we have set a goal to collect 100 tons
of tabs over the second year of the Walk of Hope.
We hope to be able to collect between 100 and 300 tons per
year after that. We’re
asking that individuals and companies put ‘tab boxes’ into
high traffic areas and corporate lunch rooms and when they are
full, to place the tabs in a mailing container and send it to the
Walk of Hope in Canada or the United States. We would also appreciate it if you would e mail Robert Hampson through the Walk of Hope web site at www.walkofhope.org or e-mail direct to info@walkofhope.org Pop Can Tab Project click here |
